오늘은 연중시기 열번째 주일입니다. 지난 주에 하나님께서 창조하신 세계와 그 창조물 중 최고봉이자 하나님의 대리자로 하나님의 창조 세계를 다스리게 된 인간에 대해서, 그리고 창조 세계의 선함에 대해서 배워보았습니다. 이번 주에는 그 창조된 세계가 어떻게 죄로 인하여 파괴되었는지 한번 알아 보고 함께 은혜 나누기를 원합니다.
Today is the tenth Sunday of Ordinary Time. Last week, we learned about the world God created, the human beings, as His masterpiece, who ruled God’s creative world as God’s representative, and the goodness of the creative world. This week we would like to learn how the created world was destroyed by sin and also share the grace among first sin.
- 창세기 2:17의 선악을 알게 하는 열매는 우리에게 많은 의문을 일으켜 왔습니다. 꼭 있어야만 했는가라는 질문에서부터 또 하필이면 왜 선악을 알게 하는 열매라고 이름을 지었는지에 이르기까지 참 다양한 질문들이 있었고, 또 학자들 간에 많은 논쟁을 불러 일으켰습니다. 그런데 우리가 알아야 하는 것은 선악과라고 이름 붙여진 이 열매는 인간의 자유를 제한하고자 한 것이 아님을 먼저 알아야 할 것입니다. 무슨 말인고 하면, 실은 선악과가 없었다면 인간은 오히려 진정한 자유 의지를 가진 존재가 될 수 없다는 것 입니다. 왜냐하면 마음 내키는대로 모든 것을 할 수 있는 것은 자유가 있다고 말할 수는 있겠지만, 진정한 자유 의지가 있는 것은 아니기 때문인데, 이는 우리가 자기의 본성이 원하는 대로 모든 행동을 할 수 있는 동물에게 자유 의지가 있다고 말하지 않는 것과 같은 이치입니다. 그렇기에 선악과는 인간을 나머지 모든 창조물들과 구별해 주는 즉 인간은 자유 의지가 있어서 무엇을 할지 혹은 하지 않을 지 결정할 수 있는 존재로 창조 되었음을 알려 주는 기준이 되는 것입니다. 또한 선악과라고 이름 붙여진 이유는 조직 신학자 루이 벌코프가 말한 것처럼 선악간 판단의 기준을 하나님이 정할 것인가 아니면 인간이 정할 것인가를 보여 주기 때문이라고 말했듯, 선악과를 먹은 인간은 결국 하나님이 창조하신 선한 창조 세계를 자기 임의로 선과 악으로 나누기 시작함으로써 모든 창조 질서와 관계를 파괴하게 되었던 것입니다. 이런 면에서 본다면, 또한 인간에게 있어 이 선악과는 인간은 하나님의 창조물로서 유한성을 가지고 있으며, 또한 궁극적인 선악간 심판자가 하나님이심을 인정하고, 하나님 앞에서 겸손하게 살아 갈 수 있도록 해주는, 결국 완전하고 무한하신 신과 인간을 구별해 주는 기준이 됨을 알 수 있습니다.
- The fruit of knowledge of good and evil of Genesis 2:17 has raised many questions. There were a lot of questions and also it brought into controversies among scholars from the question of whether it should have been and why it was named as the fruit of good and evil. But what we need to know is that this fruit of the knowledge of good and evil is not intended to limit human freedom. In other words, in fact, without this fruit, human beings cannot have true free-will. Because if we are free to do everything as we want, there is no true free-will, as animals can do all the things they want based on their instinct. Therefore, we may know that the fruit of knowledge of good and evil distinguishes humans from all other creations, as Human beings have free-will to decide what to do or what not to do. Also, the reason why God name it the knowledge of good and evil is because as a Reformed theologian Louis Berkhof says, it shows that God is the One who decides what is good and evil, not human beings. So, after eating the fruit, human beings began to divide and judge by himself what is good and evil, destroying all creation order and relationships. In this respect, also, this fruit of knowledge of good and evil clearly teaches human beings that God is the ultimate Judge who decides and judge what is good and evil so that distinguishes human beings as his finite creature from God who has infinite wisdom and knowledge of all so that human beings may live humbly before God.
- 그런데, 아담과 이브는 결국 사탄의 유혹을 받아, 하나님의 말씀에 대한 불신과 하나님처럼 되고자 했던 교만한 마음을 품고, 선악과를 따 먹는 죄를 범하게 되었고, 육체적 죽음, 영적 죽음 그리고 영원한 죽음에 이르게 되었을 뿐 만 아니라, 그 결과로 이 땅에 사는 동안 고통 가운데 살아가게 되었습니다. 그리고, 선악과를 따 먹게 되자, 눈이 밝아져 자기가 벗은 줄 알고 무화과 나무로 가리기 시작했다 (창 3:7) 고 말씀하는데, 선악과를 먹기 전에는 두 사람이 벌거벗었느나 부끄러워하지 않았다는(창2:25) 사실에 비추어 볼 때, 어떤 내적 변화가 일어 났음을 알 수 있는데, 그것은 결국 아담과 이브를 창조하시고 보시기에 심히 좋았더라고(창1:31) 하신 말씀을 거스르고 이미 자기 자신에 대해서도 어떤 부분은 좋고 어떤 부분은 나쁘다고 나누기 시작함으로, 자기 자신과의 관계도 파괴되었습니다. 이어진 3:8에서는 그동안 동산에서 함께 동행했던 하나님과도 스스로 두려워하여 하나님을 피하여 숨게 되었고, 또 3:12에서는 돕는 배필로 지어 주셨고(2:22) 또 “내 뼈 중의 뼈요 살 중의 살”(2:23)이라고 했던 이브에게 책임을 돌리고 자기를 죄에 빠뜨린 사람이라고 정죄하고 있을 뿐 만 아니라, 3:16말씀에서는 여자는 남편을 조정하려 들고 남자는 여자를 다스리려고 하는 관계로 전락하게 되어, 결국 타인과의 관계도, 하나님과의 관계도 또 자연과의 관계(창 3:17)도 파괴되게 되었을 뿐 아니라 심지어 자기 자신과의 관계도 깨어지는 상태에 이르게 되었던 것입니다.
- However, Adam and Eve, tempted by Satan, having unbelief in the word of God and pride that they want to be like God, sinned to eat the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil, which led to physical death, spiritual death, and eternal death. In addition to that, while living on this earth, human beings lived in pain. And also as it is written that their eyes opened and knew they were naked to cover them with a fig tree (Gen. 3:7), when Adam ate the fruit of good and evil. In this text, you can see that some internal change has occurred to Adam and Eve. Even though Gen 1:31 says that they were very good to see, they began to think that some parts were good, yet others were bad, so that they hid themselves and their relationship even with themselves was destroyed. In the following 3:8, they feared God and hid themselves from God, who had walked together in the garden, and also in 3:12, even though God made Eve as a helper to Adam (2:22), and also Adam said, “she is ‘Bone of bones and flesh of fleshes’”, not only does he condemn Eve for blaming her for sin, but in 3:16 says that the woman tries to control her husband and the man tries to rule over the woman. Eventually not only the relationship with others, with God, with nature (Gen. 3:17) were destroyed, but even the relationship with oneself was destroyed.
- 그러나, 우리에게 소망이 있는 것은 이미 첫 죄를 지었던 바로 그 순간에, 하나님의 구원의 은혜의 약속, 즉, 여자의 후손은 네 머리를 상하게 할 것이요 너는 그의 발꿈치를 상하게 할 것이라는 원시 복음이 선포 (창 3:15) 되었고, 또한 3:21에는 하나님께서 손수 아담과 이브를 위해 가죽옷을 지어 입혀 주시는 은혜를 주셨습니다.
- However, at the very moment when they sinned, we already find hope, since the proto-gospel was proclaimed as God promised the saving grace in 3:15 that the offspring of a woman will hurt Satan’s head and Satan will hurt his heel and also in 3:21 that God gave them the grace of making leather garments for Adam and Eve to wear.
- 이렇게 인간의 죄와 타락 이후 곧 바로 선포된 복음의 약속이, 2000년 전 이 땅에 육신을 입고 오셔서, 모든 고난을 받으시며, 하나님의 뜻대로 사셨고, 마침내 십자가에서 죽으심으로 믿는 자의 모든 죄를 사하여 주시는 구속 사역을 완성하셨고, 또한 죽음에서 부활하셔서 그 은혜의 생명의 복음이 그분의 택자들에게 적용될 발판을 마련하셨을 뿐 아니라, 하늘로 올라 보좌 우편에 앉으셔서 하나님 나라의 통치를 시작하셨으며, 세상 마지막 날에 다시 오셔서, 모든 믿는 이들을 생명의 부활로 나아오게 하시며, 또한 모든 불신자들을 심판하실 예수님을 통하여 이루어졌습니다. 따라서, 예수님을 믿는 우리들은 이미 영적으로는 거듭납의 은혜를 덧입고 이 땅에서의 삶 동안 옛 자아의 죽음과 새 자아의 성장과 성숙, 즉 성화를 이루어 주시는 은혜를 누리면서 살 수 있게 되었습니다.
- As the promise of the Gospel proclaimed right after human sin and the fall, Jesus came to the earth 2,000 years ago in the flesh, suffered all things, lived according to the will of God, and finally died on the cross for all the sins of those who believe. He not only completed the redemptive work of forgiveness, but also rose from the dead to apply these merits to His elect, and ascended to heaven and sat down at the right hand of the throne, and began the rule of the kingdom of God. And finally Jesus will come again on the last day to bring all believers to the resurrection of the body, and to judge all unbelievers. Therefore, we who were born again have to live here the life of the daily dying of the old self and the living of the new self as the sanctification during life on earth.
- 그러므로 우리들 하나님의 자녀들은 피조물들이 간절히 기다리는 바 대로 (롬 8:19), 창조의 선함을 선포함으로, 하나님의 나라를 이 땅에 건설하며 나아가는 일에 힘 쓰며, 자연에게도, 주위의 사람들에게도, 본인 자신에게도 하나님께서 창조하신 하나님의 형상, 그 원형을 바라보며, 하나님의 선하심을 선포하는 우리 모두가 되기를 소망합니다.
- Therefore, I hope our children of God may be striving to build and advance the kingdom of God on this earth, preaching the goodness of creation, as creatures eagerly await (Rom. 8:19), to nature, to the people around us, and to ourselves, by proclaiming God’s goodness, after witnessing the image of God created in them.

(이 질문을 통해서, 우리 아이들이 우리들의 말에도 권세가 있어서, 어떤 부분은 좋은데, 어떤 부분은 나쁘다고 말 할 때, 이미 그것은 부정적인 저주의 말이 되어, 영혼을 피폐하게 만든다는 사실을 알고, 덕이 되는 말! 힘이 되는 말을 하기를 힘쓰게 되기를 소망합니다. 다양한 생각과 의견과 감정과 경험을 표현할 때 공감해 주시면서, 때때로 생각의 이유도 물어 보시면서 아이들과 적극적 경청과 공감의 대화를 나누실 수 있으시기를 소망합니다.)
(Through this question, I hope our children may understand that our words have power, i.e., when we say that some are good, yet some are bad, it becomes a curse, so that it makes the soul desolate! I hope that you will be able to try to speak positive words. Empathize in expressing various thoughts, opinions, feelings, and experiences, and sometimes ask the reason for your thoughts, so that I hope you will enjoy deep conversation with your children through active listening and empathy.)

하나님께서 창조해 주신 그 원형! 그 에덴을 회복하여 사는 삶! 하나님께서 심히 좋았더라고 말씀하셨든, 우리 어린이들도 입술에 심히 좋았더라고 선포하며 사는 복된 하나님 나라의 삶을 지금 여기서 살아내는 우리 모든 복된 어린이들과 가정과 교회가 되기를 기도합니다.
I pray that our children, all families and even church may start to live the archetype created by God, i.e., the life to recover Eden to live the life of the blessed kingdom of God, by proclaiming that it was good as our God said it was good.
