영과 진리로 예배하는 예배자를 찾으시는 하나님 아버지께서, 우리의 예배를 통해 올려 드리는 모든 감사와 찬양과 영광을 기쁘게 받으실 줄 믿습니다.
오늘은 연중시기 열한번째 주일입니다. 지난 주에 하나님의 선하신 창조 세계가 어떻게 아담과 이브의 죄로 인하여 파괴 되었는지를 살펴 보았는데, 결국 하나님께서는 온 땅이 죄악으로 가득함과 인간들이 생각하는 모든 계획이 악할 뿐 임을 보시고 땅 위에 사람 지으셨음을 한탄하사 마음에 근심하시며 땅에 혈육있는 모든 생물을 멸하시기로 작정하시는데, 오늘 노아 이야기를 함께 살펴 보며 은혜 나누기를 원합니다.

Today is the eleventh Sunday of the Ordinary Time. Last week, we looked at how God’s good creation was destroyed by the sins of Adam and Eve. In the end, God regretted that He created man on the earth, seeing that the whole earth was filled with sin and that all human plans were only evil so the LORD was sorrowful in his heart and determined to destroy all living creatures that have blood on the earth. We would like to review Noah’s story to receive His grace together.
- 이제 창세 기사는 아담과 이브의 첫 범죄에 대한 이야기를 들려주는 3장을 지나 4장에서는 가인의 최초 살인 범죄 그리고 가인의 6세손 라멕의 엄청난 죄들을 소개한 후, 5장에 이르러, 아벨을 대신하여 주신 셋을 통하여, 하나님의 경건한 자녀들의 계보를 소개하고 있습니다. 그런데, 특이하게도, 가인의 자손들과 셋을 통한 아담의 경건한 자손들 사이에는 동명이인 두사람이 등장합니다. 첫째는 ‘에녹 (dedicated라는 뜻)’이라는 이름인데, 가인의 아들 ‘에녹’은 가인이 ‘성 (city)’을 쌓고 에녹이라고 이름을 붙여 주기 까지 했지만, 악인의 계보에 올라 있는 반면, 셋의 6세손 ‘에녹’은 65세에 므두셀라 (노아의 할아버지)를 낳은 후 300년동안 하나님과 동행하다가 하나님께서 데려가심으로 의인의 계보에 올라 있습니다. 그리고 두번째 이름은 ‘라멕 (to make low 라는 뜻)’인데 가인의 6세손 ‘라멕’은 수많은 사람을 죽인 살인자로 역시 악인의 계보에 그 이름이 기록된 반면, 셋의 8세손 ‘라멕’은 노아의 아버지로 경건한 하나님의 자녀의 계보에 올라 있음을 볼 수 있습니다. 수많은 사람이 이 세상에 왔다 갔습니다만, ‘에녹 (dedicated)’ 이라는 이름과 ‘라멕 (to make low)’ 라는 이름에서 보듯, 우리가 무엇, 즉 하나님의 영광에 혹은 자기의 영광에 ‘dedicate (헌신)’하며 살 것인가를, 그리고 우리가 어디를 향해 낮아질 것인가? 즉, 자기를 높이다가 결국은 멸망의 길로 내려가는 길을 택할 것인가 아니면 하나님 앞에서 낮아짐으로 결국은 하나님께서 높여 주시는 길을 갈 것인가 깊이 생각해 보게 만드는 대목이 아닐 수 없습니다. 모든 인간에게 한번 주어진 인생! 지금 잠시 멈추어 서서, 나는 무엇을 위해 살고 있는가? 그리고 어디를 향해 나는 걸어가고 있는가? 생각해 보시는 시간이 되기를 소망해 봅니다.
- Now, after Chapter 3 which talks about the story of Adam and Eve’s first crime, Chapter 4 introduces Cain’s first murder and also the tremendous sins of Cain’s sixth-generation Lamech, and then comes to Chapter 5. Instead of Abel, we can see the genealogy of God’s godly children through Seth. However, it is interesting to see two people of the same name appear between the descendants of Cain and the godly descendants of Adam through Seth. The first name is ‘Enoch’ (meaning dedicated). Cain’s son, Enoch, even though Cain built a city and named it with his son Enoch, was written in the lineage of the wicked, while Seth’s descendant, Enoch walked with God for 300 years after giving birth to Methuselah (Noah’s grandfather) at the age of 65 to be listed in the genealogy of the righteous by being taken by God. The second name was Lamech (meaning to make low). Cain’s descendant, Lamech was a murderer who killed numerous people to be recorded in the genealogy of the wicked, while Seth’s descendant, Lamech gave birth Noah and to be listed in the genealogy of a godly child of God. Thousands of people have come and gone to this world, but as you can see from the names ‘dedicated’ and ‘to make low’, we need to think about to what we dedicate ourselves; to the glory of God or to our own glory, or to where we are going; being humbled then exalted by God or pursuing self-exaltation then going to the down. A life is given to all humans! Pausing now, I hope we may ask to ourselves; what am I living for? And where am I going?
- 그리고 창세기 6장에 이르러서는 과연 타락 이후의 인간 실존에 대해 다시 한번 더 깊이 생각해 보게 됩니다. 단 하나 그 금단의 열매를 따 먹고 스스로 선악을 판단하는 신의 자리에 도전했던 인간들은 결국 깊은 타락의 길로 갔습니다. 하나님께서 성별하신 의인들, 즉, 여호와의 이름을 불렀던 ‘에노스’를 통하여, 그리고 삼백년 동안 하나님과 동행하며 살았던 ‘에녹’을 통하여, 그리고 ‘수고로운 인간들을 안위’하며 500년을 산 후, 하나님의 은혜를 입어 120년 동안이나 방주를 지으며, 하나님의 심판의 메시지를 전했던 ‘노아’를 통하여 지속적으로 구원의 메시지를 전했음에도 불구하고, 온 세상에는 인간들이 저지른 죄악들로 가득하게 되었을 뿐 만 아니라, 인간들이 마음으로 생각하는 모든 계획이 항상 악한 전적인 부패의 상태에 이르게 되었습니다(6:5). 이것을 보신 하나님께서는 땅 위에 사람 지으셨음을 한탄하사 마음에 근심하시고 창조하신 사람들과 창조물들을 지면에서 쓸어 버리시고, 하나님과 동행했던 노아(6:9)와 그의 자손들을 통해 새롭게 시작하실 것을 작정하시고, 홍수를 일으키셔서, 온 땅을 새롭게 하셨습니다.
- And when we come to Genesis 6, it makes us think once more about human existence after the Fall. The humans who took the forbidden fruit and sat on the seat of God started to judge good and evil by themselves and went on a path of deep corruption. Even with God’s calling for returning through Enos who called on the name of Jehovah, through Enoch who lived with God, and through Noah who continued to deliver the message of salvation and God’s judgment while building an Ark, the whole world was filled with sins committed by humans and every plans that humans think of in their hearts has always led to a state of wicked total corruption (6:5). When God saw these corruption, He regretted that He had made man on the earth, so He was sorrowful in His heart that He wiped out the people and creations He created, and decided to start a new beginning through Noah (6:9) who walked with God.
- 그런데, 우리는 노아를 의인이요 당대의 완전한 자요 하나님과 동행했다고 소개하는 9절의, 바로 전절인 8절 말씀을 눈여겨 보지 않을 수 없는데, 8절에는 “그러나 노아는 여호와께 은혜를 입었더라”고 말씀하고 있기 때문입니다. 모든 인간이 죄를 범하였으매 하나님의 영광에 이를 수 없었지만, 그러나 하나님의 은혜를 입은 노아는 의인이요 완전한 자로 세워 주셨을 뿐 만 아니라 또 함께 동행하여 주셨음을 볼 때, 인간의 깊은 죄성 너머에 빛나는 크신 하나님의 은혜를 발견할 수 있기 때문입니다. 그래서, 이 홍수 사건은 인간의 전적 부패 (Total depravity)와 전적 무능 (Total Inability) 을 증명해 주는 동시에, 인간을 향한 하나님의 크신 구원의 은혜를 알고 실감하게 만듭니다. 하나님의 공의 앞에 우리들 인간 모두는 죽을 수 밖에 없는 존재이지만, 하나님의 크신 사랑과 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 은혜 안에서 우리를 택정하시고 구원하셨음을 깨닫게 해 주는 동시에 우리 크리스천들의 삶의 의미와 목표를 하나님의 계획과 뜻에 맞추게 해 줍니다.
- By the way, we have to pay attention to verse 8 which is the very preceding verse of verse 9, which introduces Noah as a righteous man and perfect man, who walked with God, since verse 8 states that “But Noah was favored by the Lord.” Although all humans have sinned and cannot reach the glory of God, Noah received the grace of God so that he could live as a righteous person to walk with God. From this, we can discover the great grace of God beyond the deep sinful nature of mankind. Therefore, this flood event proves us, make us know God’s great saving grace for human beings who are totally depraved and totally unable to save by themselves. Before God’s justice, all of humans are inevitable to die, but God shows us that He chose and saves us in His love and the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ to make us live our life according to His will.
- 기도하옵기는, 사랑하는 우리 자녀들 모두가 크신 하나님의 사랑과 은혜를 알고 그 은혜 안에서 하나님께서 주신 새 생명을 입고 하나님의 영광을 위하여 하나님 앞에서 겸손하게 자기를 낮추고 하나님과 동행할 수 있게 되기를 소망할 때에, 모든 가정과 교회에도 동일한 은혜로 함께 하시기를 기도합니다.
- Therefore, I pray that all of our beloved children may know the great love and grace of God. In that grace, I pray they will put on the new life that God has given them and walk humbly with God for the glory of God. I pray for the same grace to be with us in our home and church.
Activity questions and thought behind
Q1: All of you have a name that your parents gave you, and I believe that each of them has a very precious meaning. People who don’t know the meaning of their name might want to ask their parents what their name means. and then think about how you would like to live that represent your name. What will you live for? Where are you going to live? 여러분 모두에게는 부모님들께서 지어 주신 이름이 있는데, 그 이름들 마다에는 참 귀한 의미가 있을 줄 믿습니다. 자기 이름의 의미를 모르는 사람들은 부모님들께 자기 이름의 의미를 물어 보신 후, 그 이름대로 살기 위해, 어떻게 하면 좋을지 한번 생각해 보기를 원합니다. 무엇을 위해 살겠는지? 어디를 향해 살겠는지?
(이 질문을 통해서, 우리 자녀들이 자기 이름의 의미를 알고 되새기며, 앞으로 어떻게 살아갈지를 한번 고민해 보게 하는 시간이 되었으면 좋겠습니다. 그리고 한걸음 더 나아가 자기의 이름대로 살되, 자기 영광보다 하나님의 영광을 더 높이는 삶, 그리고 또 하나님의 은혜 안에서 겸손하게 하나님과 함께 동행하는 삶으로 인도함 받을 수 있는 시간이 되기를 소망해 봅니다. 다양한 생각과 의견과 감정과 경험을 표현할 때 공감해 주시면서, 때때로 생각의 이유도 물어 보시면서 아이들과 적극적 경청과 공감의 대화를 나누실 수 있으시기를 소망합니다.)
(Through this question, I hope that it will be a time for our children to know the meaning of their names and to reflect on the meaning of their names, and to think about how they will live in the future and to go one step further and live according to their own name. I hope that this will be a time to be guided to a life of humbly walking with God in the grace of God. When expressing various thoughts, opinions, feelings, and experiences, empathize with them and sometimes ask the reason for their thoughts. I hope that you will be able to actively listen and share empathy with your children.)
Q2: All people, small or large, received the grace of God. Even to those who do not believe, God gives common grace (the ability to do some kind of good work, the ability to cooperate to maintain the well-being and order of society, and to strive for the development of society, etc.). By the way, God’s children are given not only that, but also special grace so that they can live with God as righteous one. Think about what God’s grace has been given to you now. What kind of grace and gratitude are there in your life? 모든 사람들에게는 작든 크든 하나님의 은혜가 함께 있습니다. 심지어 믿지 않는 사람들에게도 일반 은총 (어느 정도 착한 일을 하며 살 수 있는 능력과 또 사회의 안녕과 질서를 유지하도록 협력하며, 사회의 발전을 위해 노력할 수 있는 재능, 등등) 을 주십니다. 그런데, 하나님의 자녀들에게는 그것 뿐 아니라, 또한 특별한 은혜도 주셔서, 의인이자 온전한 사람으로 하나님과 함께 살아갈 수 있도록 하시는데, 여러분들이 생각하기에 지금 여러분들에게 주신 하나님의 은혜가 어떤 것이 있는지 한번 생각해 보고 찾아 보았으면 좋겠습니다. 여러분들의 삶에 어떤 은혜와 감사들이 있는가요?
(이 질문을 통해서, 우리 자녀들이 우리의 삶에 넘치는 하나님의 은혜를 풍성하게 발견할 수 있게 되기를 소망해 봅니다. 감사의 조건들을 발견하는 일에도 연습과 훈련이 필요한 것 같습니다. 각자의 삶에서 은혜가 풍성한 하나님을 발견하고 그 은혜 안에서 살아가는 모든 자녀들이 되기를 소망합니다. 다양한 경험들과 생각들을 이야기할 때 공감해 주시면서, 때때로 그렇게 생각하게 된 이유도 물어 보시면서 아이들의 이야기에 대하여 적극적인 경청과 공감의 대화의 시간이 될 수 있기를 소망합니다.)
(Through this question, I hope that our children will be able to discover abundantly the grace of God that overflows in their lives. It seems that discovering the conditions of gratitude for the grace of God requires practice and training. I pray all the children who find the abundant God’s grace would live in that grace of God. 하나님께서 우리에게 주신 많은 은혜들을 발견하고 누리며, 그렇게 하나님의 영광을 위하여, 겸손하게 하나님과 동행하면서 사는 우리 모든 복된 자녀들과 가정과 교회가 되기를 기도합니다.
