“[Mary] sat at the Lord’s feet, and listened to his teaching.” [Luke 10:39b]
WOULDN’T IT BE GREAT if there were a class you could take that would teach you everything you needed to know and provide answers for all your problems? Maybe you’ve got a boss who’s impossible to please, a sinful habit you just can’t kick, a church where no one seems to be hungry for God, or a child who’s begun lying to you, and you just need some help with how to handle it all.
Actually, there is such a course, and you’re enrolled in it right now—a course that addresses every issue you will ever face. The Teacher Himself has written the textbook. And though it doesn’t claim to solve all your problems, it does have all the resources you need to face your problems. Parts of the course material can be difficult to grasp, but the Teacher is always available—twenty-four hours a day—ready to meet with you one-on-one so He can tailor the course to your needs and help you better understand.
So I encourage you today to take time to sit at the feet of Jesus. Put aside other distractions; open the ears of your heart, open His Word, and let Him teach you. He knows just what you need, and He is available to instruct you and guide you in His truth.
When I was studying piano performance as an undergraduate student, the university I attended offered “master classes” in which accomplished instructors would teach the secrets they had acquired over many years of studying and performing. It was a great honor and opportunity to sit under their teaching. But nothing compares to the joy and privilege of learning at the feet of our heavenly Master, “in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” (Col. 2:3).
What could change this devotional time from a quick few minutes into a true learning experience at the feet of Jesus? Isn’t that what you really need? [The Quiet Place]
