“You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit -fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in My name. ” [John 15:16]
In our Lord’s generous statement to His disciples about choosing them so that they would bear fruit, He clearly teaches that this matter of praying and fruit bearing is not a petty business of our choice.
He specifically had our praying in mind; He has chosen us of His own divine selection; and He expects us to do this one thing of praying, and to do it well.
The main objective of choosing us as His disciples and of sharing friendship with Him was that we might be better fitted to bear the fruit of prayer.
O God, You have chosen me of Your own divine selection. I want to do what You require from us – to pray, and to do it well. Amen. [The Power of Prayer]
