영과 진리로 예배하는 예배자를 찾으시는 하나님 아버지께서, 우리의 예배를 통해 올려 드리는 모든 감사와 찬양과 영광을 기쁘게 받으실 줄 믿습니다.
I pray that God may be glorified through our on-line worship in the Spirit and truth.
오늘은 연중시기 여덟번째 주일입니다. 성령님께서 교회를 세우시고 각종 은사와 능력으로 충만케 하시며, 또 성도의 마음에 내주하시며 주님께서 이루어 놓으신 구원의 은혜를 성도의 삶에 적용하심으로, 우리가 주님의 성품을 덧 입고 성령의 열매를 맺을 수 있도록 도와 주시되, 하나님의 영광스런 사역에 참여할 수 있도록, 세상의 모든 민족을 제자 삼으라는 대위임령 (Great Commission) 을 주셨는데, 이번 주에는 주님의 대위임령에 대해서 알아 보고 은혜 받기를 원합니다.
Today is the eighth week of the second ordinary time. As the Holy Spirit gave birth of the church, filling it with all kinds of gifts and powers, the Holy Spirit applies all the benefits which our Lord earned, while dwelling in the hearts of the saints to clothe the character of the Lord and bear the fruit of the Holy Spirit. And also our Lord has given us the Great Commission to make disciples of all the nations which is glorious ministry. So we would like to meditate on this great commission.
- 오늘 본문 18-20은 대위임령의 근간이 되는 “하늘과 땅의 모든 권세를 주셨다”는 구절, 그리고 제자삼으라 (make disciple) 는 명령문으로 이루어진 대위임령 구절 그리고 대위임령의 Enabler 인 “내가 세상끝날까지 너와 함께 하리라”는 세 구절로 구성되어 있으며, 대위임령 구절은 ‘제자삼으라’ (make disciple) 는 imperative 명령문 1개와 3개의 분사 participle – 가라 (going), 세례를 베풀라 (baptizing), & 가르쳐라 (teaching) 과 1개의 infinite 부정사 – 지키게 (to observe) 로 이루어져 있는데, 하나님 나라의 도래와 권세의 위임, 그리고 제자들에게 모든 민족에게 가서 제자를 삼아, 세례를 주고, 주님께서 명령하신 것들을 가르쳐서 지키도록 하라고 하시면서, 제자들에게 세상 끝 날까지 함께 해 주시겠다고 약속 하셨습니다.
- Today’s text 18-20 is composed of three parts; v.18 “all authority in heaven and on earth was given to me” which is the basis for the Great Commission, v.19-20f “Go and make disciples” which is composed of main verb “make disciples” with three participles – “go’, “baptizing” and “teaching” and one infinitive “to obey” as the great commission, and v.20r “I am with you always”. It means that based on the inauguration of His kingdom and empowerment of God’s authority to the Lord, Jesus gives the great commission to go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them and teaching them to obey all His commandments, with promising His presence with them.
- 첫번째 살펴보기를 원하는 것은 18절 ‘하늘과 땅의 모든 권세를 주셨으니’라는 구절인데, 이 구절은 주님께서 부활하심으로 입증된, 승천하신 후 하나님 우편에 앉으셔서 하나님 나라의 왕권을 받으시고 왕과 주되심으로 그의 통치를 시작하신 것을 의미하는데, 이는 제자들에게 주신 대 위임령의 근간이 되며, 단 7:14 “그에게 권세와 영광과 나라를 주고 모든 백성과 나라들과 다른 언어를 말하는 모든 자들이 그를 섬기게 하였으니 그의 권세는 소멸되지 아니하는 영원한 권세요 그의 나라는 멸망하지 아니할 것이니라”는 말씀을 반향하고 있습니다. 또한 여기 ‘권세’라는 말씀은 막 3:15 에서 처음 열두 제자를 임명하실 때 귀신을 내쫓는 (마 12:28 ‘내가 하나님의 성령을 힘입어 귀신을 쫓아내는 것이면 하나님의 나라가 이미 너희에게 임하였느니라’과 연계하면 결국 하나님 나라의 확장을 위한) 권능도 가지게 하려 하심’이라는 말씀과 연속선 상에서 이해할 수가 있는데, 20절 ‘내가 세상 끝날까지 너희와 항상 함께 있으리라’는 말씀과 함께, 우리의 마음에 내주하시는 성령님을 통해 우리와 함께 하시는 예수님과 동행할 때에 주님의 권세가 우리의 삶과 사역 가운데 나타남을 알 수 있습니다. 따라서, 우리는 지속적으로 주님께서 우리의 삶에 사시도록 (갈 2:20) 주님께 우리의 마음과 삶을 온전히 내어 드려야 할 것입니다.
- 18 means that Jesus inaugurated His kingdom by seating on the right hand of God the Father, after being suffered in the cross and resurrected as the King and the Lord which is the basis for the great commission, rooted from Daniel 7:14 “He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all nations and peoples of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.” Also, according to the fact that the authority was given to Jesus and Jesus will be with His disciples, we have to live the life in which our Lord reigns as the King in order that His authority will be manifest in our ministry as Gal 2:20, when we reminds Mark 3:15 “to give the authority to cast out the demons” and Matthew 12:28 ‘But if it is by the Spirit of God that I drive out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.’
- 그리고 두번째로 살펴 보기를 원하는 것은 ‘제자삼으라’는 구절인데, 이 명령은 19-20절 ‘가라’, ‘세례를 베풀고’ 와 ‘가르쳐 지키게 하라’는 3가지 분사 participle 을 통해서 그 의미가 구체적으로 설명되어 있습니다. 여기서 ‘가서’라는 단어는 ‘제자 삼으라’는 명령형과 연계하여 ‘가라’라는 명령으로도 해석할 수 있는데, 교회를 뜻하는 헬라어 에클레시아 (ἐκκλησία, ekklesia, “부르심을 받은 자 (those who are called out)” 란 뜻) 와 사도를 뜻하는 헬라어 아포스톨로스 (ἀπόστολος, apostolos, “보냄을 받은 자”란 뜻) 와 함께, 모든 민족을 향해 ‘나가서’, ‘세례를 베풀고’ 즉, 구원의 신비를 전하여 믿을 때에, 거듭남과 죄씻음을 받음을 알리는 외적 표시 Sign 이자 보증 pledge 인 물세례를 베풀고, 동시에 주님의 지체로서 언약 공동체 (covenantal community) 의 일원이 되었음을 선포하고, 주님께서 가르쳐 주신 하나님 나라에 대한 비밀과 진리의 말씀을 가르쳐 지키게 함으로써, 주님의 성품인 온유와 겸손을 덧입고 주님의 헌신적인 사랑을 실천하며, 삶 가운데 풍성한 성령의 열매와 생명의 열매를 맺을 수 있도록 하고, 또 더 나아가, 또 다른 충성된 사람들을 제자 삼은 (2 Tim 2:2) 제자가 되도록 하는 것을 의미한다고 볼 수 있겠습니다.
- And secondly, the phrase ‘make disciples’ can be understood more clearly by three particles – ‘go’, ‘baptize’ and ‘teach’. Combining the Greek, ‘εκκλησία (ekklesia, the church)’ which means those who are called and the Greek ‘ἀπόστολος (Apostolos, apostle)’ which means the one who was sent, the word ‘go’ reminds the identity of the Christians who will go to make disciples. And also ‘Baptizing’ implicates to become the member of the covenantal community in addition to the sign and pledge of the salvation. and “teaching to obey” means to teach the word of truth to be conformed to the image of the Son and obey to the new commandment “to love one another” and again to go to make disciples, as 2 Tim 2:2 says that “the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.”
- 마지막으로, 이러한 제자되어 제자삼는 일은, 주님의 임재가 능력의 원천인 바, 세상 끝 날까지 제자들과 함께 하시겠다는 주님의 약속은 우리에게 큰 위로가 될 뿐 만 아니라, 또한 우리의 능력이요 소망이 되는 것임을 알 수 있겠습니다.
- Lastly, v.20 teaches us that the presence of the Lord in our life and ministry is the power and strength of our disciple-making ministry, in addition to providing a great comfort to us.
그러므로, 기도하옵기는, 사랑하는 KPCM 모든 어린이들을 제자 삼아 가르치고 키우고 양육하는 일에 온 교회와 가정이 힘을 다 할 때에, 주님의 영광과 축복을 받아 누리는 우리 모든 어린이들과 가정과 교회되기를 소망합니다.
Therefore I pray that when the whole church and families together try to teach all our KPCM children to be His disciples, His glory and blessings may be filled to our church and all families.
Activity questions and thought behind
Q1: I believe that Jesus says not only to His twelve disciples, but also to us, who lives now and here, to make disciples. But what is the difference between a student studying at school and the disciple who follow Jesus? 오늘 말씀을 보니, 예수님께서는 열두제자 뿐 만 아니라, 지금 우리에게도 가서 제자 삼으라고 말씀하셨답니다. 그런데, 학교에서 공부하는 학생과 예수님께서 말씀하시는 제자는 어떻게 다를까요? 여러분들의 생각을 나누어 주시면 좋겠어요.
(이 질문을 통해서, 선생님들로부터 주로 지식을 전수 받는 현대 교육에서의 학생과 예수님께 배우고 또 배운 것을 삶에서 실천하며 예수님을 쫓아 살아가는 예수님의 제자가 서로 다르다는 것을 우리 어린이들이 알 수 있기를 소망해 봅니다. 다양한 생각과 의견과 감정을 표현할 때 공감해 주시면서, 때때로 생각의 이유도 물어 보시면서 아이들과 적극적 경청과 공감의 대화를 나누실 수 있으시기를 소망합니다.)
(Through this question, I hope that our children will know that students in modern education receive mainly the knowledge from teachers, while Jesus’ disciples not only learn from Jesus, but also follow Jesus in their lives. Q2: When Jesus said to His disciples “Go and make disciples of all nations”, He has geographical expansion of His gospel in mind. But, the present era where already the technology such as airplanes and all kinds of transportation systems are fully developed, has different challenges due to globalization. Even in the States, we are mingled with Caucasians, African-Americans and also Asian-Americans to compose the multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, and multi-faith society. Not only that, we are mingling with Christians, Muslims, and Buddhists, etc.. In this highly mingled multi-religious society, where do we have to go to make His disciples? What do you think? 예수님께서는 사랑하는 제자들에게 가서 모든 민족을 제자 삼으라고 하셨을 때는 지리적으로 먼 나라에 가서 복음을 전하라는 말씀이었답니다. 그런데 지금 우리가 사는 세상은 비행기도 생기고 교통도 발달해서 이미 전 지구는 세계화가 된 것 같아요. 그래서 우리 미국만 보더라도 피부색이 흰 백인들도 있고, 또 아프리카에서 온 친구들도 있고, 또 우리처럼 아시아에서 온 사람들도 함께 살면서, 어떤 사람은 교회를 다니는 크리스천이고, 어떤 사람은 무슬림으로 모스크에 다니고, 어떤 사람은 불교를 믿어서 절에도 다니는 다민족 다문화 다종교 사회가 된 것 같아요. 이렇게 다양한 사람들이 함께 사는 지금 예수님께서 가서 제자 삼으라고 하셨는데, 어디로 가서 제자를 삼아야 하는 걸까요? 여러분들의 생각을 나누어 주시면 좋겠어요.

(With this question, I hope that our children will recognize that the United States which is globalized with all kinds of diversity, has already become the end of the world, where we have to preach the gospel. So, the only way to share the gospel is to show Christian life of love and justice, rather than just sharing the gospel verbally. Q3: Jesus asked you to go and make disciples today. Do you have any friends that you think of? How can you make that friend a disciple of Jesus 예수님께서 오늘 여러분들에게도 가서 제자 삼으라고 하셨는데, 생각나는 친구가 있나요? 그 친구를 어떻게 예수님의 제자로 삼을 수 있을까요?

주님께서는 우리에게 주신 “가서 모든 민족으로 제자 삼으라”는 대 위임령 (Great Commission)은 우리를 힘들게 하는 짐이 아닙니다. 그것은 축복의 통로요 하늘 나라의 상급이 예비된 사명이며, 우리가 그것을 통해서 주님의 권능과 영광에 참여하게 되는 통로임을 우리가 믿을 때에, 우리 모든 KPCM 어린이들이 영원한 기쁨과 하나님의 영광을 받아 누릴 수 있기를 또 동일한 은혜가 각 가정과 교회에도 차고 넘치기를 기도합니다.

The Great Commission, “Go and make disciples of all nations,” given to us by the Lord, is not a burden to us. Rather it is the channel of blessing and the glory is the reward for that. I pray all our KPCM children will enjoy the joy and glory of God through this commission and also there may be the same grace in each family and church.
