“If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask Him!” [Matthew 7:11]
Think about this thought for a moment. Do earthly parents require their children to perform duties that they cannot do? What father would be so unjust and mean? Are our earthly parents kinder, better, more just than our perfect God?
In principle, obedience to God is the same quality as obedience to earthly parents. It implies the giving up of one’s own way to follow that of another. It implies the submission of oneself to the authority and requirements of a parent.
Loving Father, I submit myself to Your authority and give up my own ways to obey You. You are a perfect God, and deserve the best from us. Guide me in obedience today. Amen. [The Power of Prayer]
