“The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest field.” [Matthew 9:37-38]
We read in Scripture that our Lord had called His disciples aside to rest awhile, exhausted by the demands made on them.
But the crowds preceded Him, and instead of finding solitude, quiet, and rest, He found great multitudes eager to see, to hear, and to be healed. His compassionate heart was moved. The ripened harvests needed laborers.
He did not call these laborers all at once, but He encouraged the disciples to take themselves to God in prayer, asking Him to send forth laborers into His harvest.
Dear Father, grant me a compassionate heart like Jesus. Help me to see ripened hearts that are ready to receive Your Son into their lives. Amen. [The Power of Prayer]
