영과 진리로 예배하는 예배자를 찾으시는 하나님 아버지께서, 우리의 예배를 통해 올려 드리는 모든 감사와 찬양과 영광을 기쁘게 받으실 줄 믿습니다.

We believe that Heavenly Father, who is looking for worshipers who worship with spirit and truth, will gladly receive all the thanks, praise, and glory that we offer through our worship.

오늘은 새소망과 비전으로 맞는 2021년 첫 주일입니다. 지난 주, 2020년 마지막 주일에는 신명기 32장 말씀을 통하여, 지난 한 해 어려움 속에서도 하나님께서는 우리를 어떻게 보호해 주셨고, 또 그 과정에서 우리를 낮추시며 한편으로는 주권자 하나님을 만나게 하시고 찬송하게 하셨던지를 생각해보며, 감사로 2020년을 마감하였습니다. 오늘 2021년 첫 주를 열면서, 신명기 8장 말씀을 통하여, 이러한 광야를 통한 연단이 결국 하나님께서 복을 주시기 위한 것이었고, 또 우리들의 마음 깊은 곳으로부터 하나님의 은혜를 찬양하기 위한 것임을 살펴보면서, 약속의 땅에서 어떻게 살아가야 할 지를 함께 고민해 보면서, 은혜 받는 시간이 되기를 소망합니다.

Today is the first Sunday in 2021 that we start with new hope and vision. Last week, as the last Sunday of 2020, meditating on Deuteronomy 32, we ended 2020 with gratitude, thanking how God has protected us through the Pandemic, thinking about how He made us humble, and praising God’s Sovereignty. Today, as we open the first week of 2021, through Deuteronomy 8, we would like to know that the trials in the wilderness in the end result in God’s blessings and it elicits from our deep heart the gratitude and praise in response to God’s grace, while thinking about how to live in the promised land.

• 신명기 8장을 보면, 광야에서의 시간들은, 구세대들의 불신에 대한 벌이자, 동시에 새롭게 일어날 신세대들을 연단하셔서, 마침내 그의 택하신 백성 이스라엘에게 ,그의 조상들에게 맹세하신 언약(약속, v.18)대로, 복을 주려 하심이었다고 (v.16) 말씀하시면서, 결국 그렇게 하나님의 복을 받은 백성들이 하나님의 명령을 지켜 그의 길을 따라가며 그를 경외하는 삶을 살면서 (v.6) 하나님을 찬송하기를 원하셨다고 말씀하시고 있는데, 이는 결국 하나님 나라 안에서, 하나님의 복주심과 그의 백성들의 감사의 찬양과 삶이라는 큰 그림을 보여 주고 있습니다.
• Looking at Deuteronomy 8, the times in the wilderness seems to be punishment for the distrust of the older generations, but also, at the same time, it seems to work as the discipline for the new generations so that He might bless His chosen people Israel (v.16) as He promised to their ancestors (Covenant, v.8) and want them to keep His commandments, follow His way and live in the reverence of God (v.6). This shows the big picture of life in the kingdom of God that God blesses His people, while His people respond with thanksgiving and praise to the Lord.

• 그런 하나님 나라의 청사진 아래, 하나님께서는 그의 택한 백성들이 감사의 찬양과 삶을 삶은 그의 명령을 지키고 그의 길을 따라가며 하나님을 경외하는 삶으로, 하나님 사랑과 이웃 사랑으로 나타날 것입니다. 광야 생활은 바로 그렇게 하나님 뜻대로 사는 삶을 훈련하는 과정이었는데, 특히 만나는 그 의미가 집약되어 있는 것으로 볼 수 있을 것입니다. 무슨 말인가 하면, 만나는 먼저 우리들의 영육간에 모든 생명이 하나님으로 말미암는다는 것을 깨닫게 하시고자 하셨을 뿐 만 아니라 (vv.2-3) 만나를 거두고 먹는 모든 과정에서 하나님의 명령을 믿고 따르도록 하는 훈련이었습니다. (출 16:12-30, 사람의 수효대로 매일 먹을 만큼만 거두라고 명하셨으며 순종하지 않고 다음날까지 두면 벌레가 생기고 곰팡이가 피었으며, 거룩한 안식일에는 만나가 내리지 않는 바, 그 전날에 이틀 양식을 거두도록 명하셨으나, 안식일인 그 다음 날에는 만나에 벌레도 생기지 않고 곰팡이가 피지 않는 것을 보게 하심으로 이는 하나님의 뜻대로 사는 훈련이었음)
• Under such a blueprint of the kingdom of God, the life of God’s people will appear as the life to keep His commandments, to follow His way, and to live in God’s will, i.e., to love God and love their neighbors. The wilderness was the place where God trained them to live in His will. In particular, this was done through the training with the manna. In other words, not only did He want to make them realize that God is the provider for all spiritual and physical life (vv.2-3), but it was also a training to believe and follow God’s commands in all the processes of harvesting and eating manna. (According to Exodus 16:12-30, God commanded that people gather only enough to eat every day. If people did not obey and gathered too much and left them until the next day, bugs and mold were grown in manna. And also since manna did not come down on the holy Sabbath, God commanded people to gather food for two days the day before the Sabbath. But in the day of Sabbath, people saw that the manna did not grow bugs and mold, even though they gathered the amount of manna for two days. In this way, they were trained to keep and follow God’s way and will for them.)

• 이렇게 이스라엘 백성들을 만나와 말씀으로 훈련하신 것은, 모든 축복이 하나님으로부터 말미암는 것을 깨달아, 축복의 근원되시는 하나님 앞에 겸손한 백성들로 훈련시키고자 함이셨는데, 이는 그들이 약속의 땅에 들어가서 자기의 힘으로 복을 얻었다고 하며 교만하지 않도록 하고, “겸손과 여호와를 경외함의 보응은 재물과 영광과 생명 (잠 22:4)”이라는 말씀처럼, 겸손히 하나님을 경외함으로 그만을 의지하며, 그분의 뜻, 즉 하나님의 법대로 살아가는 감사의 삶을 살도록 하시기 위함이었으며, 그 광야의 훈련을 기억하라 (v.2) 그리고 하나님을 잊지말라 (v.11)고 권면하시고 있는 것입니다.
• The reason why God trained the Israelites with manna and the Word like this was to let them realize that all blessings come from God and to train them as humble people before God who is the source of blessings. God wanted to make people not be arrogant that they earned the blessings by their own strength and power and to let them rely humbly on Him, and follow His will in His laws, as Prov. 22:4 says, “The retribution of humility and the fear of Jehovah is riches and glory and life.” So God commands them remember the training in the wilderness (v.2) and do not forget God (v.11)!

• 이제 2021년을 시작하면서, 이제 비전 센타의 완공을 기다리며, 하나님께서 새로운 시대를 열고 계시는 것을 바라보면서, 우리 모두가 이제 그 축복의 길! 에 함께 서기를 그래서 모두 그 과정 속에 예비하신 모든 복을 받아 누리는 우리 모두가 되기를 소망할 때에, 오늘 신명기 8장을 통해서 몇가지 교훈을 배우기를 원합니다. 첫째로는 하나님 나라의 큰 그림, 즉 하나님의 생명과 복(시104:27-30, 대상 29:12)을 내려 주심과 복받은 백성들이 감사의 찬양을 올려 드리는 것(시 50:23)을 보여 주고 있는데, 우리의 삶을 통하여, 궁극적인 하나님의 나라의 삶, 즉 감사의 찬송과 경배의 삶이 다 되기를 소망합니다. 둘째로는, 이스라엘이 그렇게 살아 갈 수 있도록 훈련해 주신 만나의 의미, 즉, 하나님께서는 모든 생명과 구원의 공급자 되시며 또한 모든 축복의 근원이 되시는 분이실 뿐 만 아니라, 하나님께서는 그분의 말씀을 통하여, 하나님 사랑과 이웃 사랑이라는 그 복의 열매들을 맺기를 원하셨던 것처럼, 올 한해 우리도 하나님의 말씀을 읽고 묵상하고 암송하며, 또 그 말씀대로 순종하여 말씀대로 살기를 힘쓰는 우리 모두가 되기를 소망합니다. 그렇게 말씀대로 사는 삶은 우리로 하여금, 모든 선한 것이 하늘에 계신 아버지로부터 내려온다는 것(약 1:17))을 깨달아, 우리로 교만에 빠지지 않고 겸손하게 함으로 우리가 하나님의 은혜를 누리도록 해 주기 때문입니다. 그리고 마지막으로 그러한 감사의 삶과 말씀대로 순종하는 삶을 통해서, 하나님 나라가 어떤 나라인지, 즉 하나님의 은혜와 그의 백성들의 감사를 이 세상에 보여 주고, 또 그렇게 하나님 나라가 이 땅에 세워지는데 쓰임받는 우리 모두가 되기를 소망합니다.
• Now as we begin new year 2021, waiting for the completion of the Vision Center, and looking at God opening a new era when all of us will be blessed by marching together with God in that path, I hope we will learn some lessons from Deuteronomy 8 today. First, as Deut 8 shows us the big picture of the kingdom of God where God blesses His people forever (Psalm 104:27-30 and 1 Chronicles 29:12), while His people responds with thanksgiving and praise to the LORD (Psalm 50:23), we also live the life of thanksgiving in response to His blessings. Secondly, as the meaning of manna was that God wanted not only to let the Israelites recognize Him as the source of all blessings for our life and salvation, but also to let them bear the fruits of the blessings to love God and love their neighbor, I hope that we will all strive to live according to the Word by reading, meditating, and reciting the Word of God. Because living according to the Word makes us realize that all good things come down from the Father in heaven (James 1:17) and makes us humble without falling into pride so that we can enjoy the grace of God. And finally, through such a life of thanksgiving and obedience to the Word, I hope we may show how God’s kingdom looks like and also we will all be used to establish the kingdom of God on this community.

• 기도하옵기는, 우리 아이들과 가정과 교회가 이런 하나님의 큰 축복의 대열에 함께 하여 축복의 근원되시는 하나님으로부터 모두 복을 받고 또 그 복을 누리는 모두가 되시기를 기도합니다.
• I pray that our children, family, and church will join the ranks of God’s great blessings and be blessed and enjoyed Him forever who is the source of all blessings.

Activity questions and thought behind

Q1 According to Deut 8:7-10, 16-18, we know that God led the Israelites to the land flowing with milk and honey, gave good land and power to get wealth, and blessed them. What if the Israelites think that their power and hands made them be rich and even they serve the idolatry? I wonder how God feels?  오늘 본문 신 8:7-10,16-18에서 보면, 하나님께서는 이스라엘 백성을 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 가나안 땅으로 인도하셔서, 땅도 주시고 또 모든 재물을 얻을 능력도 주셔서 복을 주시기를 원하시는 하나님이심을 알 수 있습니다. 그런데 만약 이스라엘 백성들이 마치 자기들의 능력과 힘으로 부하게 되었다고 착각하며, 심지어 여호와 하나님을 잊어 버리고 다른 우상을 섬기기 까지 한다면, 하나님의 마음을 어떠실까요?

(이 질문을 통해, 우리 아이들이, 만복의 근원되시는 하나님께서는 신실하게 이스라엘을 축복해 주셨을 때, 어떻게 행동하는 것이 하나님을 기쁘시게 하는 것인지 또 하나님은 어떤 것을 원하시는지 생각해 보는 시간이 되기를 원합니다. 하나님께 감사하고 찬송하는 삶(v.10) 이 어떤 것인지, 하나님의 명령을 지키고 즉 하나님의 뜻대로 살며, 하나님을 경외하며 그의 길을 따라가는 것임을 깨닫고, 그러한 삶이 어떤 것인지 한번 생각해 보는 시간이 되기를 소망합니다. 다양한 생각과 의견과 감정과 경험을 표현할 때 공감해 주시면서, 때때로 생각의 이유도 물어 보시면서 아이들과 적극적 경청과 공감의 대화를 나누실 수 있으시기를 소망합니다.)

(Through this question, I want our children to think about how to act to please God and know what God wants as when God blessed Israelites. I hope this will be a time to think about what a life of thanksgiving and praise looks like in our daily life, following God’s command, living according to God’s will, fearing God, and following His path. I hope that you will be able to share a conversation of positive listening and empathy with your children by empathizing with them when expressing various thoughts, opinions, feelings and experiences, and sometimes asking the reason for your thoughts.)

Q2 According to Today’s text, it is arrogance to say that their power and hands made them wealth so that we have to remember God granted those power and ability to get wealth, i.e., it is not humility if we lower us outwardly, even while we think that our effort and power made the wealth and success. What kinds of talent and power do you have now? Who gave do you think it to you? How do you want to use them? And when you succeed or get wealth, how will you thank God? 오늘 본문에서보면, 어떤 일을 이루거나 재물을 얻었을 때, 그것이 자기 능력과 자기 손의 힘으로 이루었다고 생각하면 이미 교만한 것이라고 말하며, 하나님께서 그러한 능력과 힘을 주셨음을 기억하라고 말씀하고 있습니다. 즉 자기 힘으로 이루었는데, 그저 겉으로 사람들에게 그렇지 않은 듯 하는 것은 겸손이 아니라고 말하고 있습니다. 여러분들이 지금 가지고 있는 재능들이나 능력들은 무엇이 있나요? 그리고 그 재능들과 능력들을 누가 주셨는지 아시나요? 그 재능들과 능력들을 어떻게 사용하면 좋을까요? 그리고 그 재능들과 능력들로 성공을 하거나 부자가 되었을 때 어떤 자세로 하나님께 감사하면 좋을까요?.

(이 질문을 통하여, 우리 아이들이 하나님께서는 이 세상의 모든 부와 명예를 주시는 분이시며, 또한 모든 사람들에게 재능들과 능력들을 나누어 주시는 분이시며, 또 힘을 더하셔서 노력할 수 있도록 도와 주시는 분이심을 먼저 깨닫고, 또 그러한 모든 복을 주심으로 또 감사의 찬양을 올려 드리며 또 감사의 삶으로 살아가기를 바라시는 것을 알게 되기를 원합니다. 특별히 그렇게 감사의 찬양은 어떻게 올려 드리며 감사로 사는 삶은 어떻게 사는 삶인지 한번 생각해 보는 시간이 되기를 소망합니다. 아이들의 생각을 다 들어 주신 후에 선생님 혹은 가족이 함께 출 34:6 말씀을 읽으면서, 하나님을 알고 또 묵상하는 시간이 되기를 소망합니다. 다양한 생각과 의견과 감정과 경험을 표현할 때 공감해 주시면서, 때때로 생각의 이유도 물어 보시면서 아이들과 적극적 경청과 공감의 대화를 나누실 수 있으시기를 소망합니다.)

(Through this question, first of all, I hope our children understand that God is the one who gives all the wealth and honor of this world, who also imparts talents and abilities to all people, and also who helps them to strive. And also I hope they will realize that God wants them to live a life of thanksgiving and praise in response to all those blessings. In particular, I hope they think about how to give thanks and how to live a life of thanksgiving. After listening to all the thoughts of the children, I hope this also will be a time to know and meditate on God while the teacher or family member reads Exodus 34:6. I hope that you will be able to share empathetic dialogue with the children by empathizing with them when expressing them, asking the reason for their thoughts from time to time.)

Q3 As we open new year 2021 with hope and vision through the vision center, I pray that all church can be blessed together through that vision by participating in His wonderous work in unity, while reminding the past when He trained us with His words and we may walk with Him in joy together. 오늘 2021년 첫째 주일을 열면서, 이제 저희 교회에 주신 비젼을 향해서, 온 교회가 한마음 한뜻으로 하나님의 큰 일에 동참하여, 모두 축복을 받아 누릴 수 있기를 소망합니다. 특별히 지난 시간 말씀과 순종으로 우리를 훈련하신 시간들을 다시 한번 돌아보며, 더욱 하나님의 기뻐하시는 뜻대로 사는 우리 모두가 되기를 소망합니다.

2021년 첫 주일을 맞아 한해 기도제목을 적어 보는 시간을 가지시고 또 서로 나누며 서로를 위해 기도해 주시는 시간이 되었으면 좋겠습니다. (그리고 각 어린이들의 기도제목들은 담당 교역자에게 주시면 위하여 1년동안 계속 기도하도록 하겠습니다.) 감사합니다.

On the first Sunday in 2021, I hope to have a time to write down prayer lists for this year and to share and pray for each other. (And if you give each child’s prayer lists to the minister in charge, we will continue to pray for them.) Thank you.
