영과 진리로 예배하는 예배자를 찾으시는 하나님 아버지께서, 우리의 예배를 통해 올려 드리는 모든 감사와 찬양과 영광을 기쁘게 받으실 줄 믿습니다.

We believe that Heavenly Father, who is looking for worshipers who worship with spirit and truth, will gladly receive all the thanks, praise, and glory that we offer through our worship.

오늘은 2021년 세번째 주일입니다. 지난 주에는, 롬 8장을 통하여, 우리가 성화를 이루어가는 과정에서 도전과 고난과 유혹을 받지만, 우리를 끝까지 붙들어 주시는 하나님의 사랑으로 말미암아 넉넉히 이길 수 있다는 것을 배웠습니다. 이번 주에는 고후 4:16-5:10 말씀을 통하여, 그렇게 겉사람은 낡아지나 우리의 속사람은 날로 새로와지는 성화의 삶은 결국 잠시받는 환란을 통하여 영원한 영광에 이르게 할 뿐 만 아니라, 이러한 과정에서 우리는 믿음으로 하나님을 기쁘시게 하는 삶을 통하여, 결국 하늘 나라의 상급도 받을 수 있는데, 함께 묵상하며 은혜 나눌 수 있기를 소망합니다.

Today is the third Sunday in 2021. Last week, we learned that we can overcome with the love of God who sustains us to the end , even though we are challenged, suffered, and tempted in the sanctification process through Romans 8. This week, through 2 Cor 4:16-5:10, I hope we can learn that the life of sanctification in which the outer self is getting old, but our inner self is renewed day by day, not only prepares us the eternal glory through the tribulation received for a while, but also enables us to receive rewards, while we may please God with faith in this process.

• 고린도전후서는, 지중해 무역 중심지로 풍요로왔으나, 아프로디테 신전의 영향으로 성도덕이 문란했던 지금의 그리스 남부 고린도에 있던 고린도 교회 (2차 전도 여행때 세운 교회)의 여러가지 문제들, 즉 문란한 성도덕, 우상숭배, 종교적 혼합주의, 분파주의, 지혜와 지식에 대한 자랑, 성령의 은사에 대한 열광주의 등의 문제들과 더불어, 바울의 가르침에 도전하며 교회를 혼란하게 하는 등의 문제가 발생하자, 이 문제들을 해결하기 위하여 쓴 편지들입니다.
• The1st and 2nd Corinthians are the letters that Apostle Paul wrote to resolve various issues of Corinthian church that was founded during his second missionary journey such as idolatry, religious syncretism, sectarianism, pride in wisdom and knowledge, and enthusiasm for the gift of the Holy Spirit, being influenced by the sexual immorality of Corinth which was a very rich city, as the center of Mediterranean trade and was corrupted with the sexual immorality due to the temple of Aphrodite, and also to discipline people who arose against Paul’s teaching and confuse the church.

• 바울은 고린도 교회의 여러가지 문제들의 근본 원인은 고린도 교회의 그리스도인들이 영과 육(물질)을 나누고 영의 구원만 있다고 믿는 헬라적 이원론의 영향을 받아, 방언의 은사 등은 이러한 영적 구원을 받은 표시라고 생각하여, 현재의 육신적 삶을 경히 여겨 성적 문란에 빠지거나 혹은 그 반대로 극단적 금욕주의 경향을 나타내었다고 보았으며, 이에 칭의후 성화의 삶을 강조하고 육체적 죽음후 주님 재림시 있을 부활에 대한 교리와 공동체의 유익을 위한 은사론 등에 대해 가르침으로 이러한 문제들을 해결하고자 하였습니다.
• Paul thought that the root cause of various problems in the Corinthian church was that Corinthian Christians were very much influenced by the Greek dualism, which believes that human beings are divided into spirit and body (material) and only the spirit will be saved and the gift of tongues, etc., are the sign of such spiritual salvation already so that they had a tendency to go into sexual disturbance, or vice versa, asceticism, by neglecting current physical life. Therefore, Paul tried to solve these problems by teaching about the sound doctrine of the gifts of the Holy Spirit which are given for common good, and emphasizing the life of sanctification after justification, and the clear doctrine of the resurrection that will occur at the Second Coming of the Lord after physical death.

• 고린도후서는 그가 먼저 보낸 편지들의 가르침과 디모데와 디도를 통한 권면에 결국 고린도 교회가 순종하여, 교회내 성도덕 문제를 바로 잡고 바울을 적대하여 교회를 혼란케한 이들을 치리하였다는 소식을 접하고, 기쁜 마음으로 쓴 편지인데, 자신은 새 언약의 일꾼(고후3:6) 으로 영광스런 직분 (3:8) 을 받아, 성도들에게 생명과 진리의 복음을 전하여 주 앞에 바로 서게 함으로 (4:14) 많은 사람들에게서 감사가 넘치게 하여 하나님께 영광을 돌리는 것 (4:15) 이라고 말씀하고 있습니다.
• The second Corinthians is the letter that after he received, with joyful heart, the news that the church in Corinth eventually obeyed the teachings of his first letters and the counsel through Timothy and Titus, correcting their sexual immorality and disciplining those who confused the church by opposing Paul’s teaching. He appealed that he, the servant of new Covenant (2 Cor 3:6) called for the glorious mission (3:8) had been making every effort to glorify God (4:15) through the gratitude of many Christians who had been stood right before the Lord, by preaching the gospel of life and truth.

• 바울은 이렇게 복음의 광채, 즉 예수 그리스도의 얼굴에 있는 하나님의 영광을 아는 빛을 받은 자로서, 진리의 복음을 전하는 과정에서 고난과 환난 가운데 비록 겉사람은 후패하나 속사람은 나날이 새롭게 되어 마침내 영광에 이르게 될 것을 확신할 뿐 만 아니라 (4:16-17), 또한 믿음을 통하여 하나님을 기쁘시게 하는 삶(5:9)은, 부활의 몸을 입게 될 (4;14, 5:4) 마지막 날에 그리스도의 심판대 앞에서, 마침내 상급을 받게 할 것 (5:10)이라고 말씀하고 있습니다.
• Paul says that since he has received the light of knowing the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ, so that even though he experienced the sufferings and tribulations while preaching the gospel of truth, he did not lose heart because he knew that even though the outer self was defeated, but the inner self was renewed every day to reach His glory finally (4:16-17) and that the life that pleases God through faith (5:9) will be rewarded at last before Christ’s judgment seat (5:10) in the final days of resurrection (4;14, 5:4).

• 오늘의 본문을 통해서, 우리가 함께 생각해 보기를 원하는 것은, 첫째, 성령님께서는 우리의 속사람이 나날이 새로워지게 하시고 마침내 영광에 이르게 하시며, 또한 예수님께서 다시 오실 때, 부활의 몸을 입게 하시는 바 (5:5) 우리는 살아 있는 동안 하나님께 감사로 영광을 돌려드리며 (4:15), 또한 믿음으로 행하며 주님을 기쁘시게 하는 삶 (5:9)을 살아야 합니다. 그리고 두번째 이런 믿음의 삶은 결국 우리로 영광에 이르게 할 뿐 만 아니라, 마지막 날에 그리스도의 심판대 앞에서 상급을 받게 할 것이라는 사실을 기억하고 하나님의 기쁘신 뜻을 따라 살아야 할 줄로 믿습니다. 안토니 후크마 (Anthony Hoekema) 는 그의 책 “개혁주의 종말론 (The Bible and the Future), p.263, 287)에서, 우리가 받는 상급에 대해서, 다음과 같이 잘 설명해 주고 있습니다.
• Throughout today’s text, there are three main points that I would like us to think about. First, since the Holy Spirit renews our inner self day by day and brings us to glory and also when Jesus comes back, He arose us into the glorious body of resurrection (5:5), so we have to glorify God with thanksgiving while we live in this side of the world (4:15) and walk by faith and live a life that pleases the Lord (5:9). Secondly, we have to live according to the will of God, remembering that life of faith will not only lead us to glory, but also make us receive rewards before the judgment seat of Christ in the last days. Anthony Hoekema, in his book (The Bible and the Future, p.263, 287) explains the rewards we receive well as follows:

“구원은 분명히 전적인 은혜이다. 그러나, 성경은 말하기를, 심판의 날에 하나님의 백성들이 받게 될 상급들에는 차이가 있을 것이라고 한다; … 눅 19:12∼27의 경우 상급이란, 증가되는 기쁨이라는 측면보다 증가되는 책임의 측면을 말하고 있으며, 고전 3:10∼15에서는 두 가지 종류, 즉 불에 타지 않는 금, 은, 보석으로 짓거나 혹은 불에 타는 나무, 풀, 짚으로 지은 두 종류의 건축자들이 나오는데, 두 종류의 건축자들 모두 은혜로 말미암아 구원은 얻게 되지만, 불의 시험을 거쳐도 남아난 집을 지은 사람은 상급을 받게 될 것이지만, 불의 시험을 통과하지 못한 집을 지은 자들은 손실, 즉 상급을 잃게 될 것이라고 말하며, 이런 사람은 마치 불이 난 건물에서 그가 입고 있던 옷 이외의 모든 소유물을 잃어 버리고 “불 가운데서 빠져나온” (참고, NIV) 자와 같이 구원을 얻게 될 것이라고 말하고 있는데, 여기서 말하는 상급은 그리스도인의 삶의 질, 즉 어떤 재료들로 집을 지었느냐와 밀접하게 연관이 되어 있다고 말하고 있음에도 불구하고, 누가복음 17:10과 하이델베르그 교리문답 제63항은 이 모든 상급조차 인간의 행위에 따른 공로가 아니라 하나님의 은혜의 선물임을 알아야 한다고 분명히 말하고 있습니다.

그리스도와 그의 나라를 위한 우리의 헌신과 봉사가 커질수록, 미래의 새하늘 새 땅에서 뿐 만 아니라, 지금 이 세상에서도 하나님 나라의 축복들을 향유할 수 있는 우리의 용량은 커진다… 우리 모두는 지금 더 나은 세상을 위해 일해야 한다. 하나님의 나라를 충만하게 노출시키기 위해 애쓰는 우리의 노력들은 영원한 가치가 있는 것들로, 우리 그리스도인들이 살면서 죄와 투쟁하고, 선교를 하기도 하며, 기독교 특유의 문화를 발전시키고 증진시키는 모든 노력들은 이 세상에서 뿐 아니라 장차 올 새 세상에서도 값진 것으로 여겨질 뿐 만 아니라, 우리가 이 땅에 사는 동안 하나님 나라를 건설하기 위한 모든 봉사는 새 세상을 건설하기 위한 자재들로 쓰여지게 될 것이다. 즉, 성경을 번역하거나, 많은 종족들과 나라들에 복음을 전하기도 하며, 신자들이 새롭게 되고, 또 문화가 변혁되게 하는 이 모든 일들이 장차 영원한 세상에서 그 충만한 진가를 발휘하게 될 것이다.”

“Salvation, to be sure, is wholly of grace; yet the Bible indicates that there will be variation in the rewards which will be received by God’s people on the Day of Judgment; … Luke 19:12-19 interestingly says that the reward in this case seems to be a matter of increased responsibility rather than simply of increased enjoyment … and 1 Cor 3:10-15 says that both kinds of builders are saved by grace, but the builder whose work on the foundation passes the test of fire and survives will receive a reward while the man whose work fails to pass the fire test, however, will suffer loss, i.e., the loss this man suffers must be a loss of reward so this man is saved like ‘one escaping through the flames’ (NIV)-as a man escapes from a burning building, having lost all his possessions except the clothes he is wearing. The reward will be directly proportional to the kinds of materials with which a man has built on the foundation of faith in Christ—in other words, to the quality of his Christian life.

That there will be such rewards for believers is clear, but such rewards are not merited but are gifts of God’s grace (Luke 17:10), as the Heidelberg Catechism expresses the same thought in Answer 63: “This reward is not earned: it is a gift of grace.”[1]

Our devotion to Christ and to service in his kingdom increases our capacity for enjoying the blessings of that kingdom, both now and in the life to come. [2] … We must indeed be working for a better world now. Our efforts to bring the kingdom of Christ into fuller manifestation are of eternal significance. Our Christian life today, our struggles against sin—both individual and institutional—our mission work, our attempt to develop and promote a distinctively Christian culture, have value not only for this world but even for the world to come. As we live on this earth, we are preparing for life on God’s new earth. Through our kingdom service the building materials for that new earth are now being gathered. Bibles are being translated, peoples are being evangelized, believers are being renewed, and cultures are being transformed. Only eternity will reveal the full significance of what has been done for Christ here.^[3]

• 기도하옵기는 하나님의 택정함을 입어, 은혜로 구원받은 우리 모두가 주님을 기쁘시게 하는 열심으로 이 땅에서 진리의 복음을 살고, 마침내 하늘나라에 이르러 영광을 입을 뿐 만 아니라, 마지막 날에 주님의 상급을 받는 모든 우리 KPCM 자녀들과 가족들과 교회가 되기를 기도합니다.
• I pray that we live the gospel of truth on this earth so that we please the Lord and will be glorified when we finally come to heaven and I pray that these grace of our Lord be with all of our KPCM children and families and church to receive the Lord’s reward in the last days.

I hope that you will be able to share a conversation of positive listening and empathy with your children by empathizing with them when expressing various thoughts, opinions, feelings and experiences, and sometimes asking the reason for your thoughts.)
