영과 진리로 예배하는 예배자를 찾으시는 하나님 아버지께서, 우리의 예배를 통해 올려 드리는 모든 감사와 찬양과 영광을 기쁘게 받으실 줄 믿습니다.
We believe that Heavenly Father, who is looking for worshipers who worship with spirit and truth, will gladly receive all the thanks, praise, and glory that we offer through our worship.
지난 주에는, 지난 주에는 이사야서 53:1-12 말씀을 통하여, 비록 이스라엘 백성들이 죄를 지어, 징벌을 받았지만, 하나님께서는 하나님의 종을 보내셔서, 그들의 죄악을 담당케 하시고 그의 고난과 아픔을 통하여 그의 백성들을 회복시키시고 마침내 하나님의 영광을 온땅에 전하는 자로 세우신다는 것을 배웠습니다. 이번 주에는 요한 복음 18~19장 말씀을 통하여, 예수님께서 유대 종교 지도자들의 고소로 빌라도가 예수님을 재판했지만, 결국 죄를 찾을 수 없었음에도 불구하고 무고히 십자가형을 언도 받으신 예수님에 대해서 알아보고 은혜 받는 시간이 되기를 소망합니다.
Last week, through Is 53, we learned that God restores His people to proclaim His glory to the world after restoring His people from their sin and sinful nature, even though His people had sinned and were disciplined. This week, through John 18~19, we would like to receive some grace through meditating on our Lord Jesus, who was accused by the Jewish leaders and investigated by Pirate, yet being announced he could find no guilt on Him.
- 현재까지 발견된 인류 최초의 법은 우르남무법전인데, 함무라비법전 (BC1972~1950) 보다 약 3세기 앞선 BC 2100~2050 사이 수메르어로 기록되어 있습니다. 우르남부법전에는 살인, 강도, 어린이 납치, 노예, 성법죄, 상해와 위증 그리고 땅에 대한 법들이 적혀있습니다. 특히 함무라비 법전에는 “만약 어떤 사람을 사형에 처할 만하다고 하여 고소하고도 이것을 입증할 수 없다면, 고소한 자를사형에 처한다”는 법도 있는데, 오늘 본문에서 보면, 유대 지도자들이 예수님을 사형에 해댱한다고 고소하였지만, 막상 빌라도는 예수님의 죄를 찾을 수 없다고 세번이나 이야기를 하고 있는 점이 흥미롭습니다.
- The Code of Ur-Nammu is known as the oldest law code which has been survived until now and is written in the Sumerian language, BC 2100~2050, advanced three century to the Code of Hammurabi which is known to be written BC 1972~1950 in the Old Babylonian dialect of Akkadian. In the Code of Ur-Nammu, 57 laws were written regarding the murder, the robber, kidnapping, slavery, adultery, injury and false witness, including the cultivation of the field. Especially in the Code of Hammurabi we can find the law “If a man accuses another man and charges him with homicide, but cannot bring proof against him, his accuser shall be killed” which is related to Jesus’ case, accused by the Jewish to Pirate, yet interestingly Pirate announced three times “I cannot find guilt on Him.”
- 세상에서는 재판 심리가 잘못 진행되어, 때때로 억울한 판결을 받기도 하지만, 무죄하다고 말해 놓고 사형을 언도하고 집행한 사건은 찾을 볼 수 없습니다. 그런데 오늘 본문은 재판관인 빌라도가 죄를 찾지 못했는데도 불구하고 예수님은 사형, 그것도 가장 수치스런 십자가형에 언도된 사건입니다.
- In the court of the world, even though we knew many cases that the innocent were judged as guilt due to the false hearing in the trial, but we did not hear any case that the one on whom the judge cannot find any guilt was death-sentenced and executed. But in today’s Bible verse, we see a case that Jesus on whom Pirate could not find any guilt was sentenced to death and executed in the most shameful crucifixion.
- 오늘 본문에 의하면, 예수님께서는 많은 죄목으로 고소되었지만, 요약하면 두가지 죄목으로 이해할 수 있습니다. 첫째는 본인이 왕이라고 하며 로마 제국에 대항하였다는 고소입니다. 그러나 예수님께서는 네가 왕이냐는 빌라도의 심문에 예수님께서는 하나님의 나라는 이 세상에 속한 것 (of this world) 도 아니며 이 세상으로부터 나온 것 (from the world) 도 아니며 진리에 대하여 증언하러 온 왕이라고 분명히 말씀 하셨습니다. 그러자 빌라도는 유대인들에게 나가서 “나는 그에게서 아무 죄도 찾지 못했다”고 예수님의 무죄를 3번이나 선언하였습니다. 그리고 두번째 중요한 고소 사항은 예수님께서 하나님의 아들이라고 했다는 히브리 종교법에 관한 것입니다. 그러나 예수님께서 하나님의 아들이라고 한다는 말을 들은 빌라도는 오히려 그를 더욱 두려워하였고 자기에게 놓을 권한도 십자가에 못박을 권한도 있다고 예수님을 겁박하지만 예수님은 오히려 그 권한도 위에서 주신 것이며 나를 넘겨준 자의 죄가 더 크다고 말해주자, 오히려 빌라도가 예수님을 놓으려고 힘 쓰는 상황이 벌어졌습니다. 참 세상에 유례를 찾아보기 힘든 재판입니다. 그러자 유대 지도자들은 아이러니 하게도 자기들이 그렇게 믿고 고백했던 한분 하나님에 대하여 “가이사 외에는 우리에게 왕이 없다”고 고백하는 배교의 행위를 서슴지 않으면서, 하나님의 아들이라고 진리를 말씀하신 예수님을 신성 모독죄로 죽이고자 고소했고, 심지어 빌라도에게 예수를 놓아주면 가이사의 충성이 아니라고 협박까지 하였으며, 이에 빌라도는 민란이 일어날 것을 두려워 하여 무리들에게 만족을 주고자 하여 결국 예수님에게 십자가 형을 언도하기에 이르렀고, 예수님께서는 자기 십자가를 지시고 골고다 언덕길을 올라 십자가에 못박히신 후 마지막 신 포도주를 받으시고는 “다 이루었다”고 하시고 돌아가셨습니다. 물론 그가 예언하신대로 삼일 만에 다시 부활하셨지만 말입니다.
- According to today’s text, Jesus was accused of many crimes, but in summary it can be understood as two main crimes. First, he was accused of being a king against the Roman Empire. But when Pirate asked to Jesus “Are you the king of the Jew?”, Jesus said that His kingdom is neither of this world nor from the world and He came to testify of the truth as the king of His kingdom. Then Pilate went out to the Jews to declare Jesus’ innocence three times, saying, “I found no guilt in him.” And the second important accusation concerns the Hebrew religious law that Jesus said that He was the Son of God. However, when Pilate heard that Jesus was saying that He was the Son of God, even he feared Jesus even more and threatened Jesus, saying “I have the authority to release you or to crucify you.” But, when Jesus replied “You would have no authority over me at all unless it had been given you from above so that he who delivered me over to you has the greater sin,” even Pilate tried to release Jesus more eagerly. It is a trial which is very awkward and hard to find in the world. Anyhow, this time, ironically, the Jewish leaders who said that they believed God as their King only so that Jesus who said he was the son of God committed the sin of blasphemy, confessed “We had no king except Caesar” and said to Pirate “If you release Jesus, you are not loyal to Caesar.” Then in order to satisfy the crowds because he feared a riot, Pirate eventually sentenced Jesus to the crucifixion, so that Jesus took His cross and climbed the Golgotha. After He was nailed and suffered with receiving the last sour wine, He said, “It is finished,” and died, even though, of course, as he prophesied, he was resurrected after three days.
- 오늘 본문 말씀을 통해서 몇가지 은혜를 나누기 원하는 데, 첫번째 오늘 법정 사건에서 분명히 보듯 예수님께는 죄가 없으신데도 불구하고 십자가형을 언도 받으셨고 마지막 돌아가시면서 다 이루셨다고 말씀하셨습니다. 우리가 감당해야 할 영벌의 고통을 친히 다 겪으시고 담당하시기 위하여 세상에서 가장 수치스럽고 가혹한 형벌인 십자가형을 당하시고 “다 이루었다”고 말씀하셨던 주님의 은혜를 우리가 알기를 원합니다. 우리의 구원은 예수님 안에서 완전하게 이루어졌습니다. 다만 그 완전한 구원의 적용이 과정에 있을 뿐 입니다. 둘째는 예수님께서는 이 땅에 왕으로 오셨는데 이는 진리에 대하여 증언하려 함이라고 말씀하셨고 무릇 진리에 속한 자는 예수님의 음성을 듣는다고 말씀하셨습니다. 즉 하나님의 나라는 진리의 나라라는 말씀이십니다. 여기서 예수님께서 말씀하시는 진리는 헬라철학에서 말하는 존재의 진실된 있는 그대로의 면을 말하는 알렉세이아 (ἀλήθεια)와 사건에 대한 정확하고 실질적인 진술을 말하는 라틴어 베리타스 (veritas)를 너머, 출 34:6 “여호와라 여호와라 자비롭고 은혜롭고 노하기를 더디하고 인자와 진실이 많은 하나님이라” 에 나오는 히브리어 진리 “에메트” (אֱמֶת)를 말하는데, 거짓이 없고 변치않는 것, 즉, 진리되시고 또한 모든 진리의 원천이신 하나님, 하나님의 창조와 구원과 심판, 그리고 하나님의 언약에 대한 주권적 신실하심을 의미하며 요 1:14 “말씀이 육신이 되어 우리 가운데 거하시매 우리가 그의 영광을 보니 아버지의 독생자의 영광이요 은혜와 진리가 충만하더라”는 말씀과 “나는 길이요 진리요 생명이라 (요 14:7)”고 말씀하신 바, 성육신하신 예수님께 충만히 나타나고 있습니다. 마지막으로 예수님께서는 진리에 속한 자는 예수님의 음성을 듣는다고 말씀하셨습니다. 요 10:3 “양들은 그의 음성을 안”다고 말씀하셨듯 오직 진리에 속한 자, 즉 택자만이 이 진리의 말씀을 들을 수 있다는 말씀입니다. 신실한 하나님의 독생자께서 고난 받는 종으로 이 땅에 오셔서 하나님의 언약 즉 구원과 심판을 신실하게 이루시되, 자기 양을 위하여 목숨을 버리시기까지 (요 10:15) 다 이루시고 구원을 완성하신 예수님의 은혜가 우리 모두에게 있기를 소망합니다.
- Through today’s text, we would like to share some graces. Firstly, as we can see in today’s court case, it is said that Jesus was sentenced to crucifixion even though Pirate clearly said that he could not find no guilt on Him and that He had fulfilled. I hope we may know the deep grace of the Lord who said, “It is finished”, after suffering the most shameful and harsh punishment in the world, the crucifixion, in order to bear all the eternal punishment on behalf of us. Yes, our salvation was completely achieved in Jesus, even though the application of that perfect salvation is only in the process. Secondly, Jesus said that he came to this earth as a King to testify about the truth, and that everyone who belongs to the truth hears the voice of Jesus. The kingdom of God is the kingdom of truth. The truth Jesus speaks of here goes beyond the Greek “alexeia” (ἀλήθεια), which means the true as-is perspective of being in Greek philosophy and also the Latin “veritas”, which means an accurate and practical statement of events, rather as Ex. 34:6-7 says “The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin”, the truth of Hebrew “emeth” (אֱמֶת) means that which has no false and not changing, i.e., true God who is the fountain of all the truth, and His truth of creation, salvation, judgement, and eternal life, and His Sovereign faithfulness to His word and covenant, and as John 1:14 says “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth,” and John 14:6 says “I am the way, and the truth, and the life,” it was revealed fully in the incarnation of Jesus. And finally, as Jesus said that those who belong to the truth hear His voice, as John 10:3 says, “the sheep hears His voice,” only those who belong to the truth, that is, the elect, can hear this word of the truth. So I hope the grace of Jesus who fulfilled God’s covenant faithfully, by sacrificing His life for His sheep (John 10:15) as God the Father sent His only begotten Son to this world for us as a suffering servant to be with all of us.
- 기도하옵기는, 특별히 고난 주간을 맞아 하나님의 사랑으로 말미암아 예수 그리스도 안에 있는 은혜가 그가 사랑하시는 우리 KPCM 자녀들과 가족들과 교회에 넘쳐나기를 소망합니다.
- I pray that in this passion week, the grace of Jesus Christ from the love of God be with His children, their family and church of KPCM.
Activity questions and thought behind
Q1 When the Jewish leaders accused Jesus that He said He was a king of the heaven and the Son of God, it is said that Pirate who thought in the beginning Jesus was a mere religious leader of delusion became afraid, after hearing from Jesus. I wonder how Jesus felt through this conversation? If you are in the position of Pirate, I wonder how you felt in these conversation? Would you share your thoughts or idea with your friends? 유대인들이 예수님을 하나님의 아들이라고 하는 신성모독죄와 로마에 대항하여 하늘 나라의 왕이라고 한다고 고소 했을 때, 예수님을 한낱 망상에 빠진 종교 지도자 정도로만 생각했던 빌라도는 예수님과 몇마디 대화를 나누게 되면서 예수님을 두려워했다고 말하고 있습니다. 이 대화를 하면서 예수님께서는 어떤 마음이 드셨을까요? 또 여러분들이 만약 빌라도의 입장에 서 있었다면 어떤 마음이 들었을까요? 여러분들의 마음과 생각을 친구들에게 나누어 주시면 좋겠어요.
(이 질문을 통하여, 우리 아이들이 빌라도가 예수님을 심문하면 할수록 점점 두려운 마음이 들었다고 하는데 그 이유를 한번 짐작해 보기를 원합니다. 하나님이신 예수님을 만난 사람들은 무서워 떨 수 밖에 없습니다. 하나님을 만나면 모두 그렇게 됩니다. 예수님을 만난 베드로도 “주여 나를 떠나소서. 나는 죄인이로소이다 (눅 5:8)” 라고 했습니다. 빌라도도 예수님을 만나자 두려운 마음이 들었습니다. 하나님의 아들이자 하늘 나라의 왕이신 예수님을 만났으니까요. 그리고 자기가 십자가에서 죽을 것을 아셨던 예수님께서 이 모든 과정을 거치면서 오히려 담담할 수 있었던 것은 전날 밤 게세마네 동산에서 땀방울이 핏방울처럼 되도록 자기의 뜻보다 아버지의 뜻대로 이루어 지기를 기도하셨기 때문이었습니다. 다양한 생각과 의견과 감정과 경험을 표현할 때 공감해 주시면서, 때때로 생각의 이유도 물어 보시면서 아이들과 적극적 경청과 공감의 대화를 나누실 수 있으시기를 소망합니다.)
(Through this question, I hope our children may guess why Pirate felt afraid after he heard from Jesus. As Peter said in Lk 5:8 “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man,” those who meet Jesus who is God have to be afraid in the divine manifestation, since they meet the son of God and king of Heaven who is God also. And the reason why Jesus was calm even in all this chaos, is he spent whole night in prayer to ask God that God’s will be done instead of His will in Gethsemane until His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down the ground. When your children express diverse thoughts, opinions, emotions, or experiences, I hope you may empathize with them to enjoy the conversation of empathy through active listening, sometimes asking their thoughts behind.)
Q2 Even though he noticed that he could not find no guilt on Jesus, became afraid after realizing that Jesus was the heavenly king and the son of God, and tried to release Him, Pirate sentenced the death in the cross to innocent Jesus, since he was afraid that the crowds arose an uproar and his loyalty to the Roman emperor was suspected by trying to release Him. Frequently we meet when we have to say truth, but we have to dare to sacrifice our fame or to receive the hatred of the people. If you are in this situation, how and what will you do? Could you share your thoughts with your friends? 여러분 빌라도는 예수님을 만나 그에게 죄가 없음을 알았고 또 그가 신이자 하늘나라 왕이라는 사실에 그를 두려워하였고 또 놓아주려는 마음이 들었지만, 그러나 한편으로는 유대 사람들이 민란을 일으키고 또 왕이라고 하는 예수님을 방면하려 애씀으로 로마 황제에 대한 자기의 충성심이 의심을 받을까 두려워 하여 결국 자기 스스로 “죄를 찾지 못하였다”고 고백하였음에도 불구하고 죄없는 예수님에게 십자가형을 언도하고 말았습니다. 우리도 때때로 진리를 말해야 할 때를 만납니다. 그러나 진리를 말하고 진리에 서기 위해서는 때때로 우리가 우리의 평판이나 사람들의 미움도 감수해야 할 수도 있습니다. 만약 여러분들이 그런 상황에 처한다면 어떻게 하겠는지요? 여러분들의 솔직한 생각과 마음을 친구들과 나누면 좋겠습니다.

Q3 While we are going through the sixth week of the Lent season, 2021, the passion week, I hope that while meditating on the humility, suffering and sacrificial love of Jesus, we may draw more close to Jesus who dared to die in the cross to stand in the truth for us. 오늘은 2021년 사순절 여섯번째 주일입니다. 다음주는 고난 주간인데, 한 주간 동안 예수님의 고난과 죽음과 희생적 사랑에 대해 묵상하면서 우리를 위해 십자가에 죽기까지 진리에 서셨던 주님께 한걸음 더 가까이 다가서는 시간이 되기를 소망합니다.
