오늘은 2021년 다섯번째 주일입니다. 지난 주에는, 로마서 3장 말씀을 통하여, 예수 그리스도의 공로를 힘입어 믿음으로 값없이 하나님께 칭의의 은혜를 받은 의인은 하나님의 진리를 깨닫고 하나님을 찾으며 선하게 살아간다고 배웠습니다. 이번 주는 히브리서 4:14-5:10절 말씀을 통하여 예수님께서 영원한 대제사장으로 이 땅에 오셔서 대속의 은혜를 이루심에 대해서 공부해보고 함께 은혜받기를 소망합니다.
Today is the fifth Sunday in 2021. Last week, through Romans 3, we learned that after we are justified freely by grace through faith in Jesus, we became the righteous so that we understand the truth of the Gospel, seek for God, and live the life of good works for His glory. This week, through Heb 4:14-5:10, we would like to learn the redemptive work of Jesus Christ, as a eternal and perfect High Priest for His chosen people.
- 히브리서 저자에 대해서는 고전적으로는 바울이라고 이해되어져 오다, 후에 바나바, 아폴로, 혹은 브리스길라라는 주장도 제기되어 논란이 있지만, 수신자에 대해서는 대체로 유대 Background 를 가진 크리스천 공동체로 이해되고 있으며, 쓰여진 시기는 AD 60년대 중반이라고 알려져 있습니다. 히브리서의 중심 주제는 예수 그리스도는 하나님의 아들이자 영원한 대제사장으로 하나님과 그의 백성들의 관계를 새롭게 맺어 주시는 중보자인 바, 그를 의지함으로 믿음에 굳게 써서 그들이 당한 시련을 이겨 나가라고 권면하고 있습니다.
- Traditionally the author of the Epistle to the Hebrews had been believed to be Paul, but recently is argued it could be Banabas, Apollos, or Priscilla, etc, but it is well agreed that the recipient may be the Christians who has Jewish background and it was written around AD mid-60s. The main theme of the Hebrews is that Jesus is the mediator between God and human beings as the Son of God and eternal High priest, so that it is exhorted to have to trust in Him and stand firmly on the faith to overcome the challenges.
- 특히 오늘 본문 히 4:16-5;10 은 세부분으로 나뉘어져 있는데, 4:14-16 은 하나님의 아들 예수는 우리에게 큰 대제사장이 되시는 바, 우리의 연약함을 입고 또 시험도 받으셨지만 죄는 없으신 분으로, 우리를 동정해 주실 수 있으신 바, 주님의 때를 따라 돕는 은혜를 얻기 위하여 담대하게 은혜의 보좌 앞으로 나가야 한다고 권면하고 있습니다. 5:1-4 에서는 대제사장의 자격, 즉 하나님의 택하심과 자신의 연약함, 즉 죄에 대한 속죄제를 드림에 대해 설명한 후, 5:5-10 에서는 예수님의 대제사장으로서의 자격, 즉 하나님의 택하심과 연약함을 입고 시험을 받았지만, 눈물과 간구로 그 고난을 순종함을 배워 온전하게 되신, 즉 죄가 없으신 분이심을 설명하고 있습니다.
- Today’s text can be divided into three parts. VV. 4:14-16 exhorts that since Jesus who is the Son of God became our High priest who, being clothed with the weakness as we are, had been tempted as we are, yet without sin, so that we have to draw near to the throne of grace to receive mercy from Jesus who can sympathize with our weakness. And in VV. 5:1-4, after the author explains the qualification of the high priest; being chosen by God and being purified himself through the sacrifice for his own sin, vv. 5:5-10 explains the qualification of Jesus Christ as the eternal High priest, i.e., He was chosen by God and being perfect through His obedience in sufferings, by being heard by God in His prayer and supplication with cries and tears.
- 참고로 대제사장의 가장 중요한 사역인 속죄사역에 대해 잠시 알아보고 지나가겠습니다. 대제사장의 이스라엘 백성의 속죄 사역은 레위기 23:26-32 에 설명되어 있는 것처럼, 1년에 한번 대속죄일 (이스라엘 종교력으로 신년 티쉬리(Tishiri)월 10일, 양력으로는 대략 9월말에서 10월 초순경에 해당) 에 이스라엘 백성 전체를 대표하여 하나님께로부터 백성들의 죄를 속함 즉 용서를 받는 것입니다. 이스라엘 백성들은 일반적으로 신년의 시작과 함께 약 10일 동안 회개의 기간을 보냈는데, 이 기간의 마지막 날을 대속죄일로 지켰으며, 이 날은 하루동안 금식하며 회개하는 날이자, 동시에 하나님과 사람들에게 지은 모든 죄를 용서받고 새롭게 새해를 시작하는 기쁨의 날이기도 했습니다. 그 절차 (레 16장)를 살펴보면, 속죄일이 되면, 대제사장은 세마포로 만든 거룩한 옷을 입고, 백성들의 속죄 제물을 위한 숫염소 둘과 번제를 위한 숫양 하나를 취하고, 대제사장 자신과 그의 가족을 위한 속죄 제물로 수송아지와 번제를 드릴 숫양을 취하여 성막 (성전)으로 나아갑니다. 먼저 대제사장은 그와 그의 가족의 죄를 대속하기 위하여, 수송아지를 잡고, 향로를 가져다가 여호와 앞 제단 위에서 피운 불을 그곳에 채워, 지성소 안에서 곱게 간 향기로운 향으로 여호와 앞에서 분향하여 향연으로 증거궤위 속죄소를 가리게 한 다음 (하나님의 영광을 직접 보아서 죽지 않기 위함임), 수송아지의 피를 지성소 안에 있는 속죄소 (언약궤 위의 그룹이 있는 곳) 동편에 손가락으로 뿌리고 속죄소 앞에 일곱 번 뿌려 속죄를 했습니다. 그리고 백성을 위한 속죄제 염소를 잡아 그 피를 속죄소 위와 앞에 뿌려 백성의 죄를 속죄하면, 하나님께서 모든 백성의 죄를 용서해 주셨습니다. 그런 후, 속죄 제물로 가져갔던 두 마리 염소중 나머지 염소에 머리에 손을 얹어 백성들의 모든 죄를 전가한 후, 광야로 보내어 죽게 했는데, 이는 백성의 죄가 완전히 없어졌다는 것을 의미했습니다. 그리고 나면 두마리의 양을 잡아 번제를 드렸고 그외에도 소제와 전제 (민 29:11)를 드렸습니다. 지성소 안에서 드리는 속죄는 죄인된 인간의 근본적인 죄에 대한 것이라면, 번제의 속죄는 근본적인 죄르 속한 후에 생기는 더러움을 씻어주는 속죄를 나타낸다.
- For your reference, we would like to learn the Day of Atonement. The most important task of the high priest is to enter the Holy of Holies (inner sanctum) once a year on Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement (Tishiri 10 by Religious Israel Calendar, around the end of September to the beginning of October) to burn incense and sprinkle sacrificial animal blood to expiate his own sins and those of the people of Israel as we can see in Lev 23:26-32. Typically the Israelites kept 10 days of New year as the days of repentance and kept the final day as the Day of Atonement which was not only the day to fast and repent, but also the day to joy to start new year after being forgiven from all the sins to God and peoples. The procedures are written in Lev 16; In the morning of the Day of Atonement, the high priest, putting the holy garments on, come with a bull for sin offering and a ram for a burnt offering for himself and his families, together with two goats for sin-offering and a ram for a burnt offering for the people of Israel. First of all, the high priest shall kill the bull as a sin offering for himself and his house and then bring take a censer full of coals of fire from the altar before the LORD, bring it inside the most holy place, put the incense on the fire to cover the mercy seat with the cloud of the incense, so that he does not die. Then he shall take some of the blood of the bull and sprinkle it with his finger on the front of the mercy seat on the east side, and in front of the mercy seat seven times. And then he shall kill the goat of the sin offering for the people and bring and sprinkle the blood of the goat over and in front of the mercy seat, so that the LORD forgave all their sins. And then he shall lay both his hands on the live goat and confess over it all the iniquities, transgression and sins of the people of Israel and send it away to die into the wilderness which means their sins are forgotten. And then he shall offer the rams for the burnt offering with grain offering and drink offering (Num 29:11). The Atonement inside the holy of holiest is for the atonement of the fundamental sin of human being, rather the atonement through burnt offering is for the cleanse of the dirt after the atonement of the fundamental sin.
- 오늘 본문 말씀을 통해서 몇가지 은혜를 나누기 원하는 데, 첫번째로는 비록 우리의 처지가 하나님의 복음의 진리의 말씀을 아직 잘 모르고 늘 그릇된 길로 행하는 연약함을 입고 있지만, 레위 지파의 대제사장도 자기 자신의 죄를 위하여 속죄제를 드림으로 하나님께서 맡겨주신 백성들의 대속의 사명을 감당할 수 있었던 것처럼, 우리도 영원하신 큰 대제사장되신 그리스도의 대속의 은혜를 입었다는 우리 믿음의 도리를 늘 굳게 붙들고 우리에게 주어진 사명을 감당할 수 있기를 소망합니다. 두번째는, 우리 주님께서 하나님의 말씀대로 순종하며 살아가시며 고난을 받으실 때에, 심한 통곡과 눈물로 간구와 소원을 올려 드림으로 하나님 아버지께 들으심을 얻으셔서 성령으로 충만함을 받아 온전히 순종하실 수 있으셨던 것처럼, 우리도 우리의 연약함을 잘 아시고 또 우리가 겪는 모든 시험을 몸소 직접 겪으시고 또 성령의 도우심을 받아 이기내셨던 주님께 긍휼하심을 얻고 또 때를 따라 돕는 은혜를 얻기 위하여 은혜의 보좌 앞으로 기도로 담대히 나가야 할 줄로 믿습니다. 그런 면에서 기도는 자기가 할 수 없음을 자각하는 자 만이 할 수 있는 것이라고 말할 수 있을 것입니다. 그리고, 마지막으로 예수님께서도 순종하심을 통해서 온전하게 되셨다고 말씀하는 것처럼, 행함이 없는 믿음은 죽은 것 (약 2:26) 이듯 믿음과 순종은 동의어 (요 3:36, 행 5:32, 롬 1:5, 16:26) 인 바, 우리도 올 한해는 성령의 도우심을 힙 입고 주님의 말씀과 성령의 인도하심에 순종하는 우리 모두가 되기를 소망합니다.
- We would like to learn few points through today’s text: Firstly, even though we are weak due to our ignorance and waywardness, as the high priest of the could take his mission for the atonement of the people of Israel, after making the atonement through the sin offering for himself and his house, we may fulfill our mission, holding fast our confession, that we are forgiven through the grace of vicarious Atonement by Jesus Christ who is the eternal High Priest. Secondly, as our Lord, Jesus, had been made perfect, through obedience in the sufferings, after being filled with the Holy Spirit from God the Father through His prayers and supplications, with loud cries and tears, we also have to draw near to the throne of grace boldly that receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need, through praying to our Lord who can sympathize our weakness since He himself clothed our weakness and had been tempted as we are in every perspective, yet without sin. And finally as our Lord Jesus became perfect through obedience, since the faith apart from works is dead and faith is the synonym of obedience (John 3:37; Acts 5:32; Rom 1:5, 16:26), this year we can obey to the word of the Lord and the leading of the Holy Spirit, through the help of the Holy Spirit.
- 기도하옵기는, 사랑하는 우리 KPCM 자녀들과 가족들과 교회가, 이 어려운 환난의 때에, 우리가 믿는 믿음의 도리를 굳게 붙잡고, 때를 따라 돕는 은혜를 얻기 위하여 기도와 간구로 은혜의 보좌 앞에 나가, 하나님의 긍휼하심을 입어, 하나님의 말씀과 인도하심에 손종함으로, 승리를 얻고 하나님계 영광을 돌릴 수 있기를 기도합니다.
- I pray that His beloved our KPCM children, families and church may glorify God after getting victory in their obedience to the word of God and the leading of the Holy Spirit, by receiving His mercy and finding grace to help in time of need, which flows out from the throne of grace in prayer and supplication, holding fast our confession, in this season of pain.
Activity questions and thought behind
Q1 Sisters and brother, do you pray for something you can do by yourself or you cannot achieve by yourself? If you have any experience that since you cannot do by yourself, so that you asked for help to God, would share those experiences with your friends? It is said that Jesus prayed when he was suffering. I wonder why He prayed? 여러분들이 기도할 때, 자기가 할 수 있는 것을 기도하나요? 아니면 자기 힘으로는 할 수 없기 때문에 기도하나요? 여러분들의 생활 중에서, 여러분들이 할 수 없어서 하나님께 힘을 주세요하고 기도했던 기억들이 있으면 친구들과 나누어 주셨으면 좋겠어요? 그리고 우리 인간 예수님께서는 고난중에 있을 때, 심한 통곡과 간구로 기도했다고 합니다. 왜 그러셨을까요?
(이 질문을 통하여, 우리 자녀들이 깨닫기를 원하는 것은, 인간 예수님께서는 우리와 같은 연약한 몸을 입으셨고, 또 모든 시험을 받으셨지만, 죄를 짓지 않으셨는데, 그렇게 죄를 짓지 않으실 수 있었던 것은 예수님께서 가지신 신성, 즉 신적 능력을 사용하신 것이 아니라, 어려운 고난 가운데 있을 때, 예수님께서는 통곡과 간구로 하나님께 도우주시기를 기도했고 그래서 항상 성령님의 도우심을 입으심으로 죄를 이기시는 것을 우리에게 가르쳐 주시기 위한 것이었음을 알게 되기를 소망합니다. 그리고 예수님께서도 그렇게 기도를 통해서, 성령님의 도우심을 힘 입어 죄를 이기셨다면, 우리도 어떻게 해야 할지 깨닫게 될 수 있기를 소망합니다. 다양한 생각과 의견과 감정과 경험을 표현할 때 공감해 주시면서, 때때로 생각의 이유도 물어 보시면서 아이들과 적극적 경청과 공감의 대화를 나누실 수 있으시기를 소망합니다.)
(Through this question, I hope our children can know that the reason why Jesus has no sin, even though Jesus took our weakness in His humanity and was tempted in every perspective as we did, is not because He used His divine power, but because He had been filled with the Holy Spirit always through His prayer and supplication to God the Father so that He was heard and could not sin at all when He had suffered to show how we also can overcome the sins. Therefore, they can learn what they have to do, if Jesus Christ also always had prayed to be clothed and helped with the help of the Holy Spirit. When your children express diverse thoughts, opinions, emotions, or experiences, I hope you may empathize with them to enjoy the conversation of empathy through active listening, sometimes asking their thoughts behind.)
Q2 Today’s text says that Jesus became perfect, learning obedience through suffering. How do you understand this? Yes. it means that obedience is to obey God’s command when it is very difficult to obey, i.e., the obedience when it is really to obey is the true obedience which transforms us more and more into His image, rather the obedience when it is easy is small. If you have those experiences that you obeyed to God’s commands even though it is so hard to obey or how you could will to obey, could you share one of them with your friends? 오늘 성경 말씀에 보니까, 예수님께서는 고난을 통해서 순종함을 배워 온전하게 되셨다고 하는데 이게 무슨 뜻일까요? 예. 그 뜻은 순종은 실은 순종하기 어려울 때 순종하는 것, 쉽게 할 수 있을 때 하는 것도 순종이겠지만, 순종하기 어려울 때 하는 순종이 진정한 순종으로 그런 순종을 통해서 점점 온전해 질 수 있다는 뜻이랍니다. 여러분들도 혹시 일상 생활에서 진짜 순종하기 힘들었지만, 여러분들이 마음에 결심을 하고 예수님의 말씀에 순종했었던 일이 있었으면, 그리고 어떻게 그렇게 순종할 수 있는 힘을 얻게 되었는지 친구들에게 나누어 주셨으면 좋겠어요.
(이 질문을 통하여, 우리 자녀들이 순종은 쉽지 않지만, 그럴 때 순종하는 것이 진짜 순종이며, 또 그렇게 순종하겠다고 마음을 먹고 하나님께 순종할 수 있도록 도와달라고 기도하면, 주님께서 주시는 순종할 수 있는 힘을 덧입고, 그렇게 순종함으로 점점 예수님을 닮아가는 어린이들이 될 수 있음을 알기를 소망합니다. 다양한 생각과 의견과 감정과 경험을 표현할 때 공감해 주시면서, 때때로 생각의 이유도 물어 보시면서 아이들과 적극적 경청과 공감의 대화를 나누실 수 있으시기를 소망합니다.)

Q3 While we are going through the fifth week of 2021, I hope that while meditating on our weakness and shortness, we may be more and more like Jesus our Lord, after receiving the grace of obedience to God, by praying like Jesus during this week. 오늘은 2021년 다섯번째 주일인데, 한 주간 동안 우리의 연약함과 부족함을 돌아보며, 예수님처럼 기도함으로 하나님께 순종의 은혜를 얻고 주님을 더 닮아가는 복된 한 주간 되시기를 소망합니다.
