“We rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character; hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us.” [Rom 5:3-5]
Prayer brings us into that state of grace where suffering cannot only be endured, but where there is a spirit of rejoicing over it. What a chain of graces that could flow from tribulation.
It is in the furnace that faith is tested, patience is tried, and where all those rich virtues are developed that make up Christian character.
It is while they are passing through deep waters that God shows how close He can come to His praying, believing saints.
“Father, thank You for drawing close to us when we need You most. When we go through deep waters, Your presence comes very close to us. Amen.” [The Power of Prayer]
