영과 진리로 예배하는 예배자를 찾으시는 하나님 아버지께서, 우리의 예배를 통해 올려 드리는 모든 감사와 찬양과 영광을 기쁘게 받으실 줄 믿습니다.
We believe that Heavenly Father, who is looking for worshipers who worship with spirit and truth, will gladly receive all the thanks, praise, and glory that we offer through our worship.
지난 주에는, 마태복음 10:34-39 말씀을 통하여, 하나님께서 주신 십계명 중 첫계명 “너는 나 외에는 다른 신들을 네게 두지 말라”는 말씀에 대해서 배웠고 하나님만 유일하신 하나님이시기에 하나님만 경배해야 한다고 배웠습니다. 이번 주에는 신명기 4장 15-31절 말씀을 통하여, 제2계명 “너를 위하여 새긴 우상을 만들지 말고 또 위로 하늘에 있는 것이나 아래로 땅에 있는 것이나 땅 아래 물속에 있는 것의 어떤 형상도 만들지 말며 그것들에 절하지 말며 그것들을 섬기지 말라 (출 20:4-5)”는 말씀에 대해 배워 보겠습니다.
Last week, through Mt 10:34-39, the life of gratitude results in the life in His pleasing will as it is well instructed in the ten commandments. Among them, we learned about the first commandment “You shall have no other gods before me.” This week, through Deut 4:15-31, we would like to learn about the second commandment “You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them.”
- 이번 주 함께 배우실 십계명중 제2계명은 “너를 위하여 새긴 우상을 만들지 말고 또 위로 하늘에 있는 것이나 아래로 땅에 있는 것이나 땅 아래 물속에 있는 것의 어떤 형상도 만들지 말며 그것들에 절하지 말며 그것들을 섬기지 말라 (출 20:4-5)” 고 말씀하고 있는데, 오늘 본문 15절에서 모세는 이스라엘 백성들에게 “여호와께서 호렙산 불길 중에서 너희에게 말씀하시던 날에 너희가 어떤 형상도 보지 못하였은즉 너희는 깊이 삼가라” 고 경고하고 있는데, 여기 “깊이 삼가라”고 번역된 히브리어 “שָׁמַר” 샤마르는 “주의하다”, “열심으로 계명을 지키다”, “자기 자신을 지키다”라는 뜻이 있는 바, 유한한 우리 인간이 다 이해하지 못할 무한하신 하나님을 어떤 틀 안에 가두거나 제한하는 우를 범하지 않도록 특별히 주의해야 할 줄로 믿습니다.
- The second commandment among ten commandments which we will learn this week is “You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below and shall not bow down to them or worship them.” As Moses warned the Israelites in v.15 that “Therefore watch yourselves very carefully since you saw no form on the day that the Lord spoke to you at Horeb out of the midst of the fire”, we as finite beings have to be very careful not to make mistakes of confining or limiting the infinite God whom we cannot understand fully.
- 특히 오늘 본문에 의하면, 우상을 섬긴다는 말은 하나님께서 창조하신 일월성신을 경배하는 것이나 또 인간이 만든 어떤 형상들, 즉 인간의 모양이나 짐승이나 새나 곤충 등 어떤 형상들을 만들어 경배하는 것도 포함하지만, 우리 인간이 도저히 볼 수 없는 하나님을 형상화하는 것, 즉, 기복 신앙적 신관이나 무슨 알라딘의 요술 램프에 나오는 것과 같은 인간 중심의 신관 등에 입각하여 하나님을 가두거나 제한하는 것들과 또 어떤 추상적인 것들, 즉, 재물이나 열락의 신관을 가지고 하나님을 경배하는 것들도 포함하고 있음을 알 수 있습니다. 따라서, 제2계명의 목적을 “하나님께 드리는 정당한 예배가 미신적 예식들로 더렵혀지는 것을 하나님께서 원하지 않으신다는 것을 가르치는데 있다”고 말하였고 (기독교 강요, II.8.17) 자카리우스는 “제1계명에서 오직 자신만을 예배할 것을 명령하신 그 참되신 하나님을 정당한 형식으로, 혹은 지능있는 피조물들이 드려야 마땅한 올배른 예배로 – 사람의 상상과 수단으로 드리는 예배가 아니라 그를 기쁘시게 하는 그런 예배로 – 예배하도록 하는데 있다”고 말한 것입니다. 즉 주님께서 요한복음 4:24 에서 “하나님은 영이시니 예배하는 자가 성령과 진리로 예배할지니라” 고 말씀하셨던 것처럼, 인간의 생각에 근거한 모든 그릇된 예배를 금지하고 하나님을 기쁘시게 하는 예배를 올려 드리기를 명하고 있는 것입니다. 그리고 특히 제2계명에는 경고의 말씀이 덧붙여져 있는데, “하나님께서는 자신의 위엄과 영광을 다른 피조물이나 새긴 우상들에게 전가시키는 자들에게 반드시 보응하여 그 위험과 영광을 회복시키실 것이라고 선포 (Inst, II.8.17)”하고 계시는 것입니다.
- In particular, according to today’s text, worshiping idols includes worshiping the sun, moon, stars and all the hosts of heaven, created by God, and also worshiping man-made images, such as human figures, animals, birds, or insects and also worshiping God as the limited or confined God by human perception such as god of prosperity gospel, or human centered god like Aladdin’s magic lamp and even worshipping god of abstract such as material or happiness, etc.. Therefore, Calvin says that the purpose of the second commandment is that “He does not will that his lawful worship be profaned by superstitious rites”[1] and Zacharias says that “The end, or design of this commandment is, that the true God, who in the first precept commanded that he alone should be worshipped, be worshipped under a proper form, or with such worship as it is right and proper that intelligent creatures should pay unto him—such as is pleasing to him, and not with such worship as that which is according to the imagination and device of man,”[2] i.e., it is commanded that we have to worship God in His pleasing will, to prohibit the inappropriate worship based on human thoughts, as Jesus says in John 4:24 “God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” And especially in the second commandment, a warning is added, which declares that God will surely repay those who impute his majesty and glory to other creatures or to carved idols, to restore His majesty and glory” (Inst, II.8.17)”.
- 오늘 본문 말씀을 통해서 몇가지 은혜를 나누기 원하는 데, 첫번째 오늘 본문에서 분명히 알 수 있듯, 우리 유한한 인간은 무한하신 하나님을 다 알 수 없는 바, 비록 하나님께서는 우리의 구원과 삶에 충분하도록 하나님 자신을 계시하셨지만, 그럼에도 불구하고 하나님의 무한성 앞에 우리 인간은 겸손히 무릎꿇고 하나님을 예배하여야 한다는 사실입니다. 원인모를 고난에 처한 욥이 마침내 자기가 도저히 알 수 없는 하나님의 광대하심 앞에 “나는 깨닫지도 못한 일을 말하였고 스스로 알 수도 없고 헤아리기도 어려운 일을 말하였나이다… 내가 주께 대하여 귀로 듣기만 하였사오나 이제는 눈으로 주를 뵈옵나이다. 그러므로 내가 스스로 거두어들이고 티끌과 재 가운데에서 회개하나이다 (욥 42:3-6)”고 했던 것처럼, 무한하신 하나님 앞에 겸손히 예배하는 우리 모두가 되기를 소망합니다. 둘째로, 우리가 유일하신 전능의 주권자 하나님을 바르게 예배하고 있는가에 대해 우리가 스스로를 돌아보기를 원합니다. 일월성신이나 다른 종교의 우상을 섬기는 분들은 당연히 없을 줄 믿습니다만 혹 스스로가 하나님을 어떤 틀 안에 가둬놓고 예배하고 있지는 않은지 생각해 보기를 소망합니다. 출 20:25 “네가 내게 돌로 제단을 쌓거든 다듬은 돌로 쌓지 말라 네가 정으로 그것을 쪼면 부정하게 함이니라”고 말씀하셨던 것처럼, 성령과 진리가 아닌 우리의 열심이나 우리의 방식으로 하나님을 예배하고 있지 않은지 돌아 볼 수 있기를 소망합니다. 그리고 마지막으로 우리가 이스라엘의 역사를 돌이켜 보면, 지속적으로 하나님 앞에서 우상숭배와 죄악을 저지르는 이스라엘 백성들을 끝까지 버리지 아니하시고 멸하지 아니 하시고 조상들과 맺은 언약을 신실하게 지켜주시는 자비하신 하나님! (v.31) 그들이 죄 지을 때에 사람의 매와 인생의 채찍으로 그들을 징계하여 돌이켜 하나님을 청종케 하시고 그들이 부르짖을 때에 만나주시는 은혜의 하나님이었음을 기억하기를 소망합니다. 하나님의 자비와 긍휼이 아니었다면 오늘의 우리가 없음을 기억하고 감사의 제사를 하나님께 올려 드리는 우리 모두가 되기를 소망합니다.
- Through today’s Bible verses, we would like to learn few things; First, we can know clearly that we have to be humble and worship Him before His infinity, since we could not know Him perfectly since we as finite beings cannot know Him who is infinite One, even though God revealed Himself enough to understand His salvation and the life after. As Job who was faced up with sufferings which he could not understand why it happened to him, confessed after meeting the infinity of God that “’Who is this that hides counsel without knowledge?’ Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand, things too wonderful for me, which I did not know. ‘Hear, and I will speak; I will question you, and you make it known to me.’ I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees you; therefore I despise myself, and repent in dust and ashes. (Job 42:3-6)” Secondly, I hope we may ask ourselves whether we worship properly our God who is an only one Sovereign and Almighty God. I am sure there’s no one who worships other gods, or sun, moon and stars, but, I hope we may check whether we worship the limited or confined God. As Ex 20:25 says “If you make me an altar of stone, you shall not build it of hewn stones, for if you wield your tool on it you profane it,” we have to check whether we worship our God in our effort or method, not by the Holy Spirit and the truth. And finally when we reflect the history of the Israelites, even though they continued sins and idolatry, as God was merciful on them not to abandon them and to keep faithfully His covenant with their ancestors and God gracefully met them when they called for help after making them return to Him through the discipline with the rod and the stripes of human beings, I hope we also lift up our gratitude to God since we could not stand before Him without His mercy and grace.
- 기도하옵기는, 사랑하는 우리 KPCM 자녀들과 가족들과 교회에, 성령강림후 일곱번째 주일을 맞아, 자비하신 하나님의 크신 은혜를 깨달아 오직 유일한 참 하나님께 성령과 진리로 예배함으로 천대까지 복받는 은혜를 누릴 수 있게 되시기를 기도합니다.
- I pray that His beloved KPCM children, families and church may enjoy blessings of the thousand generation by worshiping Him in the Holy Spirit and the truth, after recognizing the great grace of merciful God in the seventh week after the Pentecost.

Q1 I am wondering how you feel when someone in your family, school or school force or manipulate you to become as they wanted, not accepting you as you are? Would you share your thoughts or feelings with your friends? 여러분~~ 가정이나 학교에서나 교회에서 여러분을 있는 그대로의 모습으로 보고 인정해 주려 하지 않고 여러분들에 대해서 어떤 기대하는 상을 그려놓고 그것에 여러분들을 맞출려고 push 하고 manipulate 하는 친구를 만나면 어떤 생각과 마음이 드시나요? 여러분들의 마음과 생각을 친구들에게 나누어 주시면 좋겠어요.
(이 질문을 통하여, 우리 아이들을 있는 그대로 인정해 주고 사랑해 주지 않고, 자기가 원하는 어떤 상을 그려놓고 그 이미지에 우리 아이들이 끼어 맞추도록 강요하고 조정하려는 사람이 있으면, 참 마음이 힘들었다는 것을 기억하게 하고 앞으로 친구들을 만날때 누구든 그 사람의 있는 그대로의 모습을 받아주고 인정해주고 사랑해 주는 친구들이 되기를 소망합니다.고 주위에도 친구하기가 쉽지 않은 친구들이 많이 있음을 생각해 보는 시간이 되기를 원합니다. 다양한 생각과 의견과 감정과 경험을 표현할 때 공감해 주시면서, 때때로 생각의 이유도 물어 보시면서 아이들과 적극적 경청과 공감의 대화를 나누실 수 있으시기를 소망합니다.)

Q2 As we knew that we feel so hard when other people force or manipulate them as they wanted us to be, God commanded we should not confine or limit Him as we wanted. I am wondering how God may feel when we love or worship Him as we wanted? Could you share your thoughts with your friends? 문제 #1번에서 친구들이 있는 그대로의 여러분들을 알아봐주고 인정해 주고 사랑해 주지 않을 때 참 힘들듯, 우리 하나님께서도 하나님을 예배할 때, 우리 인간이 생각하는 하나님이나 어떤 형상으로 제한하지 않도록 요청하셨습니다. 여러분들이 그저 인간적인 생각으로 하나님을 알고 사랑하고 예배하면 또한 어떤 마음이실까요? 여러분들의 생각을 친구들에게 나누어 주시면 좋겠어요
