영과 진리로 예배하는 예배자를 찾으시는 하나님 아버지께서, 우리의 예배를 통해 올려 드리는 모든 감사와 찬양과 영광을 기쁘게 받으실 줄 믿습니다.
We believe that Heavenly Father, who is looking for worshipers who worship with spirit and truth, will gladly receive all the thanks, praise, and glory that we offer through our worship.
지난 주에는, 이사야 58장 13-14절 말씀을 통하여, “안식일을 기억하여 거룩하게 지키라”는 제4계명에 대해서 공부해 보면서 안식일 즉 주일에는 하나님께서 창조주와 구속주가 되심을 기억하면서 우리 자신의 것을 내려 놓고 우리를 향한 하나님의 뜻을 구하며, 하나님의 길에 순종하며 또한 하나님의 말씀으로 우리를 채움으로 하나님께서 주시는 기쁨과 새힘과 안전과 명예와 축복을 누릴 수 있음을 배웠습니다. 이번 주에는 에베소서 6장 1-4절 말씀을 통하여, “네 부모를 공경하라”라는 제5계명에 대해서 함께 배우면서 은혜 나누기를 소망합니다.
Last week, through Is 58:13-14, we learned what we have to do in the Sabbath day, after learning about the fourth commandment “Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy,”, i.e., remembering God the LORD is the creator and redeemer, we have to ask for the will of God for our life and obey to the way of the LORD and fill with the Word of God after putting off ours, in order to receive the delight and refreshment in Him and the protection from Him and exaltation in the world and blessings. This week, through Eph 6:1-4, we would like to learn the fifth commandment “Honor your father and your mother.”
- 이번 주 함께 배우실 십계명은 제5계명 “제 부모를 공경하라 (출 20:12)” 입니다. 이 제5계명에는 신 6:17 “그리하면 네 하나님 여호와가 네게 준 땅에서 네 생명이 길고 복을 누(신 5:16)”리게 될 것이라고 하였는데, 엡 6:2절에서는 이 계명은 “장수와 축복”에 대한 약속이 있는 첫 계명이라고 말하고 있습니다. 이 제5계명은 두번째 돌판, 즉 인간 사이에 지켜야 할 도리, 즉 서로 사랑하는 사는 것에 대한 Foundation 이 되는 계명으로, 제1~4계명을 통해서, 창조주요 구속주요 심판주가 되신 하나님은 유일하신 한분 참 하나님이시므로 피조물인 우리 인간이 마땅히 그를 경배해야 하며, 또한 무한하신 하나님을 경외하여야 함을 분명히 하신 후, 그와 같은 원리를 인간 사회에도 분명히 세워 주셨는데, 그것이 바로 제5계명인 부모님에 대한 공경의 도입니다. 하나님께서 창조주요 구속주요 모든 은혜의 공급주가 되시듯, 부모들에게도 그와 같은 권위를 주셨는데, 부모를 통해 한 인간이 태어나, 그 아이가 자라 부모를 떠나 아내와 더불어 새로운 가정을 꾸려 독립할 때까지는 (창 2:24) 아이는 부모에게 그의 필요를 공급받게 하심으로 이렇게 권위의 질서 아래 인간들을 두시고, 하나님과 부모 앞에서 겸손하게 하셨고, 또 그 겸손함이 모든 인간 관계의 근간이 되도록 하신 바, 이 제5계명을 제6~10 계명의 근간 즉 Foundation 으로 이해할 수 있겠습니다.
- This week, we would like to learn the fifth commandment “Honor your father and your mother (Ex 20:12)” in which God promised to make their lives long and go well in the promised land (Deut. 5:16) as the first commandment with a promise of long life and blessings (Eph 6:2). This commandment is the foundation of the second stone tablet where the governing law between human beings as the law of reverence and honor of the parents, i.e., how to live and love, after God clearly commanded to worship and revere Him since He is only true God in the first through fourth commandments. As God is the creator, redeemer and provider of all the grace, since God gave the similar authority to the parents, i.e., a human should be born through his/her parents, until he/she becomes independent to be united with his/her spouse from the parents (Gen 2:24), made them to be dependent on their parent for living, God put all human beings under this authority and made them humble before their parents as well as their God so that we may understand this fifth commandment as the foundation of the sixth to 10th commandment.
- 칼빈은 제5계명을 주신 의도는 “여호와 하나님께서는 그의 경륜이 유지되는 것을 기뻐하시므로, 그가 세우신 위엄의 정도를 침범하지 말고 지”키기를 원하신 바, 이 계명은 우리가 “하나님께서 우리 위에 세우신 자들을 우러러보며, 그들을 공경”, 즉, “경의와 복종과 감사”를 돌려야 한다고 말했습니다. 첫번째 부모님께 경의에 표하여야 한다는 것에 대해서는 부모를 저주하는 자를 죽이라는 명령 (출 21:17)을 통해서 확인할 수 있으며, 불순종하며 반역하는 자녀를 죽이라고 명령(신 21:18-21)을 통해서는, 복종에 대해 확인할 수 있으며, 부모에게 선하게 행하는 것이 하나님의 계명이라고 하신 말씀 (마15장) 에서는 감사를 말씀하고 있는 것을 알 수 있다고 했습니다. (칼빈 기독교 강요, II.8.35-36)
- Calvin says that “The purpose is: since the maintenance of his economy pleases the Lord God, the degrees of pre-eminence established by him ought to be inviolable for us”[1] so that it requires us that “knowing that someone has been placed over us by the Lord’s ordination, we should render to him reverence, obedience, and gratefulness, and should perform such other duties for him as we can.”[2] The Lord confirms the first—reverence—when he enjoins that one who curses his father or mother be killed (Ex. 21:17): there he punishes contempt and abuse. He confirms the second—obedience—when he decrees the penalty of death for disobedient and rebellious children (Deut. 21:18–21). What Christ says in Matt., ch. 15, refers to the third kind of honor, gratefulness: it is of God’s commandment that we do good to our parents.[3]
- 출 20:12 “네 부모를 공경하라”의 “공경”으로 번역된 히브리어는 “כבד”(카마드) 인데 이 단어는 “무겁게 여기다”, “우선 순위에 놓다”라는 뜻이 있는 바, 하나님께서 부모님께 주신 권위와 부모님의 인생의 지혜를 무겁게 여김 즉 존중하여야 한다는 의미와 부모님 말씀을 우선 순위에 두고 그 말씀에 순종하여야 함을 의미하는 바, 따라서 엡 6:1에서는 부모님에 대한 공경을 부모님께 대한 순종으로 표현한 것입니다. 그리고 레위기 19:3 에서는 제5계명을 “네 부모를 경외하라” 라고 쓰고 있는데, 여기 쓰인 히브리어 “כבד”(야라아) “경외하다” 라는 단어는 하나님을 경외할 때도 쓰이는 바, 하나님께서 부여하신 권위를 가지신 부모님께 대해서도 하나님을 경외하는 것과 같이 경외할 것을 명하고 있는 것입니다.
- The Hebrew “כבד”(kbd) which is translated as “honor” in Ex 20:12 “Honor your father and your mother” means “to be considered weighty” or “to put first” so that it means we have to honor the authority of parents or obey to them as we prioritize their words. And also this commandment is using the Hebrew “כבד”(yr’) in Lev. 19:3 which means “to revere” or “to fear”, as God commands us to revere or fear our mother and our father to whom God gave the authority as we fear or revere God.
- 오늘 본문 말씀을 통해서 몇가지 은혜를 나누기 원하는 데, 첫번째 오늘 배운 제5계명을 보면, 하나님께서 피조물인 인간에 대해서 권위를 가지고 계시듯, 인간 사회에도 하나님께서는 권위를 통해 질서가 유지되도록 하셨음을 알 수 있습니다. 하나님 아버지와 피조물인 인간사이에 있는 질서가 인간의 죄로 무너졌지만 그리스도를 보내서서 통일된 질서가 회복된 새하늘 새땅을 만드시고 계시듯, 인간 사회에도 특히 부모에게 하나님의 권위의 일부를 주셔서 부모와 자식간에도 질서를 세우시기를 원하셨으며, 이것은 한 나라의 왕과 백성들, 그리고 각종 권세자들에게도 그와 같은 권위를 부여하심으로 창조 세계의 질서를 유지하시고 또 그렇게 회복되시기를 원하셨음을 알 수 있는데, 포스트 모더니즘의 탈권위 시대를 살고 있는 우리 크리스천이 깊이 고민해 볼 필요가 있는 문제인 것 같습니다. 두번째로 칼빈은 말하기를 윗사람의 권위에 대해 우리가 공경 즉 경의와 복종과 감사를 해야 하는 것은 “그 윗사람이 과연 이런 존귀를 받을 가치가 있느냐 없느냐”에 무관한데 그것은 그들이 하나님의 섭리를 통해서 그 권위의 자리에 있게 된 것이기에 제5계명을 통해 그 사람들을 존귀로 받들기를 원하신다”고 말했듯, 그들의 권위가 하나님을 반하게 하는 것이 아닌 한 우리는 그들의 권위를 존중해야 함을 알 수가 있는 바, 하나님께서 이 제5계명에 “장수”와 “축복”의 약속까지 덧 붙이신 것을 알고 겸손함을 잊지 말아야 할 줄로 믿습니다. 그리고 마지막으로 이러한 권위를 주신 것이 인간 존엄성의 차이를 의미하는 것이 아니라 질서의 문제인 바, 권위를 부여 받은 사람도 그 권위를 남용하거나 오용하는 일이 없이 자기 위에 있는 하나님의 권위 앞에서 겸손함을 잃지 말아야 할 줄로 믿습니다.
- Through today’s Bible text, we would like to learn few things; First, according to the fifth commandment, God willed the human society may be maintained with the authority which God shared, as He has authority over His creatures. As God works for the recovery of His creations to be unified in Christ after human beings destroyed the creation order through the sin, God wills to recover the creation order in the human society by sharing His authority with parents to recover the order between the parents and their children, as He gave His authority to the rulers of the nations so that we Christians have to keep this commandment in this anti-authority or fatherless era of the postmodern society. Secondly as Calvin says “It makes no difference whether our superiors are worthy or unworthy of this honor, for whatever they are they have attained their position through God’s providence—a proof that the Lawgiver himself would have us hold them in honor,”[4] we have to respect those who have authority humbly since it promises the long life and blessings, unless they do not ask to overlay God. And also finally this commandment does not mean that human dignity is different so that those who received the authority from God also should not misuse or abuse their authority before God and be humble under the authority of God.
- 기도하옵기는, 사랑하는 우리 KPCM 자녀들과 가족들과 교회가, 성령강림후 열번째 주일을 맞아, 하나님의 권위와 질서 아래 있는, 인간 사회에 있어서 권위와 질서를 존중하여, 윗사람 특히 부모님께 공경 즉 경의와 복종과 감사를 드림으로 장수와 축복의 약속을 받아 누리시기를 기도합니다.
- I pray that His beloved KPCM children, families and church may enjoy the long life and blessings by honoring our parents with reverence, obedience and gratitude as the fifth commandment commands us to respect the authority and order of them in human society as God shared His authority to keep His creation order in the tenth week after the Pentecost.
Activity questions and thought behind
Q1 I am sure you have experienced to vote your representative at your school or church and let them to serve the community. But sometimes you may experience they deteriorated the happiness of the community by mis-using or abusing their authority, while some improved a lot the peace and welfare of community by using their authority rightly and properly. Would you share your experiences good or bad with your friends? 여러분들이 학교생활이나 교회생활을 하면서, 여러분들의 대표를 뽑아서 그로 하여금 여러분들이 속한 공동체를 잘 섬기도록 하신 적이 있을 것입니다. 그런데 어떤 친구는 그 자리에 뽑혀 그러한 직분이 가지고 있는 권위를 바르게 잘 사용함으로 더 활력이 있고 행복한 공동체로 세워지는 경우도 있는 반면에, 어떤 친구들은 그 권위를 잘못 사용하여 친구를 괴롭히거나 힘들게 만드는 경우도 보았을 것입니다. 여러분들이 경험한 좋은 예나 나쁜 예제를 친구들과 나누어 주면 좋겠습니다.
(이 질문을 통하여, 우리 아이들이 권위와 권위주의를 구별할 수 있는 지혜가 있기를 소망합니다. 즉 권위가 나쁜 것이 아니라 그 권위를 남용 즉 과도하게 사용하거나 오용 즉 잘못 사용하는 것, 즉 권위 주의가 나쁜 것임을 이해할 수 있기를 소망합니다. 다양한 생각과 의견과 감정과 경험을 표현할 때 공감해 주시면서, 때때로 생각의 이유도 물어 보시면서 아이들과 적극적 경청과 공감의 대화를 나누실 수 있으시기를 소망합니다.)
(Through this question, I hope our children may discern how different the authority and the authoritarianism is. In other words, the authority itself is not bad, rather the authoritarianism, the abuse or misuse of authority is bad. When your children express diverse thoughts, opinions, emotions, or experiences, I hope you may empathize with them to enjoy the conversation of empathy through active listening, sometimes asking their thoughts behind.)
Q2 According to the fifth commandment, we learned that we have to honor our parents with reverence, obedience and gratitude, since God gave His authority to them. I wonder how it looks like in our daily life? today’s Bible verses, it is said that we were reconciled with God and have peace with others through being transformed into new humanity in Christ. I wonder how it looks like in our daily life? Could you share your thoughts or ideas with your friends? 오늘 배운 제5계명도 하나님께서 부모님에게 주신 권위를 존중하여 부모님께 경의와 복종과 감사를 드려야 함을 알 수 있는데, 구체적으로 여러분들의 일상 생활에서 제5계명을 어떻게 지킬 수 있는지 한번 생각해 보고 친구들에게 여러분들의 생각과 의견을 나누어 주면 좋겠습니다.
